In the United Kingdom, the gripping thriller series starring Christoph Waltz, previously known as “The Consultant,” has now moved to a new streaming platform for viewers to enjoy.
In 2023, the show debuted on Amazon Prime Video and features two-time Oscar winner portraying Regus Patoff, an enigmatic advisor who steps into the leadership role of a mobile game firm after a devastating incident.
This new rendition maintains the original’s clarity while making it more accessible to readers.
According to the 2015 novel by Bentley Little, “The Consultant” is now available on another streaming platform alongside Amazon Prime Video. Specifically, all eight episodes of the series have been added to ITVX in the United Kingdom starting from this weekend.
Titled as a “witty blend of comedy and suspense”, The Consultant delves into the “dark dynamics between manager and worker”. As the story unfolds, the employee finds themselves in a state of alarm when Regus introduces “unconventional requirements and tests” for the company.
Starring Aimee Carrero and Brittany O’Grady, this show was met with mostly favorable responses from critics when it debuted, boasting a 80% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 44 reviews.
Although acknowledging its “shallow aspects”, the overall opinion suggested that the film’s “entertaining plot twists”, polished style, and Heath Ledger’s “intimidating allure” effectively “balanced out” any flaws it may have had.
The Australian found the series to be both entertaining and addictive, praising the acting of Waltz and O’Grady. Meanwhile, The Wrap labeled it as a strong contribution to the horror genre and an intriguing exploration of corporate culture.
The Consultant is both swift-moving and darkly amusing, blending corporate satire with ethical quandaries. TV Guide found it to be both smart and absurd, while USA Today described the show as having a macabre, intricate plotline with a touch of peculiarity.
According to Entertainment Weekly, this offbeat blend of comedy and suspense puts a cheerfully jaded spin on the classic devil’s bargain theme. Meanwhile, Variety found the series to be quite enjoyable and entertaining to watch.
