Watch Keanu Reeves as a depressed “budget” angel in hilarious trailer for Good Fortune
In the upcoming directorial debut of Aziz Ansari titled “Good Fortune”, Keanu Reeves is stepping away from John Wick’s violent lifestyle to take on a role as a benevolent guardian angel instead.
In October, you’ll find a blockbuster movie with an all-star cast gracing cinema screens near you. Recently, they’ve unveiled a trailer showcasing Keanu Reeves as the character Gabriel – a guardian angel grappling with an identity crisis.
Whenever my beloved supervisor Martha, played by Sandra Oh, urges me to seek tasks beyond rescuing drivers engrossed in texting, she gently nudges me towards finding a “wandering spirit” instead.

Enter Arj (Ansari), a struggling gig worker who’s in dire need of a helping hand.
Gabriel, whom Arj quickly labels as a “thrifty guardian spirit,” embarks on a journey to demonstrate to his protege that wealth doesn’t guarantee happiness. To achieve this, the spirit decides to swap lives with both Arj and his wealthy boss, Jeff (portrayed by Seth Rogen), leading to humorous and unexpected outcomes, reminiscent of the film “Freaky Friday.
In the movie titled “Good Fortune“, penned and helmed by Ansari, we find Keke Palmer and Sherry Cola gracing the screen. Notably, Sherry Cola’s character exhibits a special fascination towards the “fiery” angel Gabriel.
Although Arj finds Gabriel’s skills unimpressive, Ansari, the film’s producer, experienced an incredibly satisfying moment when Reeves decided to portray the angelic character.
The writer-director expressed amazement, stating that a recent event transformed the movie into something entirely different, leaving him thrilled. And guess what? He’s still thrilled about it!
As a long-time admirer of Reeves, Ansari felt it was important to have a close encounter with the star in order to feel more comfortable with him. Sharing a meal seemed like the perfect solution, so Ansari chose to prepare dinner for Reeves instead.
We socialized, and he visited my home. I prepared Indian cuisine for him, and we continued our conversation for some time, during which he shared numerous stories with me. Later, we dined together on a few occasions, and I made an effort to spend more time with him to familiarize myself with him better and grow comfortable around him.” (He added)
“Working with him was an absolute pleasure, as he wholeheartedly embraced the narrative and my vision for its execution. The entire process was enjoyable, and I can’t help but say it was truly entertaining!
Good Fortune releases in cinemas on 17 October.
