As a longtime gamer and avid UFC fan, I was completely taken aback when Dana White endorsed Donald Trump during his speech at the Republican National Convention. White’s connection to Trump goes way back, with the former president being one of the earliest supporters of the UFC. But what really struck me was the passion and conviction in White’s words as he spoke about Trump’s resilience and toughness.

On Thursday, July 18, UFC president Dana White gave the last speech prior to former President Donald Trump’s appearance at the Republican National Convention to formally receive the Republican party’s nomination.

White spoke for approximately six minutes during a press conference that followed Trump’s assassination attempt in Pennsylvania by just a few days. Since White was traveling overseas at the time, he wasn’t able to contact Trump or obtain all the facts until his arrival at his destination.

White expressed, “This man is the most robust and unyielding person I’ve encountered in my entire life, in my line of work where toughness is required.”

At an earlier point in the event, Hulk Hogan from professional wrestling made an appearance and shared that he is backing Trump in his quest for another term as the President of the United States.

I, too, contributed to the GoFundMe campaign established for those affected by the tragic shooting incident. During Trump’s speech, an assailant fired indiscriminately, claiming one life and injuring several others.

On Monday, White made an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show and shared stories about Trump, an early backer of UFC. In his words, “He’s one of the most tenacious and robust individuals I’ve encountered in my existence. And here’s a secret: everyone pretends to be tough. But when the going gets rough, only a few truly prove their mettle. Trump is the genuine epitome of a badass American.”

As a gamer, I’d put it this way: In past events, it was always one of the Trump family members who introduced Donald Trump to the crowd. But in this instance, White broke with tradition and brought Donald Trump onto the stage himself.
