Warzone Mobile to be delisted from App Stores on May 18, 2025; Online support will remain available

Story Highlights

  • Warzone Mobile will no longer receive seasonal content or updates from May 18th.
  • Real-money purchases have been disabled effective immediately.
  • Existing players can continue playing with limited features after removal.

The popular mobile game Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile, as announced by Activision, is due to shut down on May 18, 2025. This means the game will be removed from both Apple App Store and Google Play Store, and it won’t receive any more seasonal content or updates to its gameplay.

Players with Warzone Mobile installed will retain access with cross-progression

Through posts on their main social platforms, they announced that the decision was reached following thorough evaluation of several aspects. They admitted that, regrettably, it did not live up to our hopes among mobile-first gamers as it has with PC and console user groups.

Thank you so much for your unwavering enthusiasm for Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile! Moving forward, we are making adjustments to focus the game more efficiently. This decision was thoughtfully made after weighing multiple factors, and we’re incredibly proud of the milestones achieved in bringing Call of Duty… to mobile gaming.

After being taken down from both Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store, new users will no longer be able to download it. But those who had the game installed prior to May 19th can continue playing online and utilize their existing content due to cross-progression and servers that facilitate matchmaking for online games.

Starting from now on, I won’t be able to splurge real cash within the gaming world anymore. My Call of Duty Points remain valid, but I can’t make any new purchases. The social aspects are also set for retirement. It took some by surprise, but a handful of us saw this coming.

After a long stretch without any significant updates and my fellow gamers gradually drifting away, I’ve come to a tough decision – it looks like Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is no longer in service. But fear not, Activision has got us covered! They’re inviting us, their loyal Warzone Mobile players, to give Call of Duty: Mobile a spin instead. As an added incentive, they’re offering some sweet rewards to make the transition smoother. For all your questions and concerns, check out the comprehensive FAQ right here.

The game never took off since its launch and was plagued with problems

From what I’ve been seeing on their socials, it seems the game has been somewhat dormant this year, at least for me. There’s been a scarcity of season updates, no noticeable promotional activities, and sadly, no exciting events to foster engagement among the fanbase.

Initially, there was much anticipation for an expected significant overhaul; however, the long-awaited update rolled out on May 7th turned into a fiasco instead. Arriving nearly a month after total silence, it stirred doubt among die-hard players about the future of the game.

Since the game’s debut a year ago, it is clear that it hasn’t achieved significant success. From facing criticism from competitors to making controversial moves such as withdrawing support for numerous devices in an attempt to boost its performance, it has never gained widespread popularity. Indeed, this situation serves as a valuable lesson.
