Warhorse Studios Confirms Open-World Middle-Earth RPG and A “New Kingdom Come Adventure”

Warhorse Studios, the team behind Kingdom Come: Deliverance, has confirmed they’re creating a new open-world role-playing game set in the world of Middle-earth. They’re also working on a brand new installment in the Kingdom Come series, described as an ‘adventure’ game.

We’ll share more information when we can. Talk about Warhorse Studios possibly working on a Lord of the Rings project first surfaced in March, and appears to be the same one reported in September 2025, which included a rumored $100 million investment from the Abu Dhabi Investment Office.

Details are scarce, but this new project is expected to compete directly with the popular game Hogwarts Legacy. Insider Gaming recently reported that Crystal Dynamics is developing the game, although it’s still possible Warhorse Studios is also working on a separate title within the same game world.

The developers of Kingdom Come: Deliverance are describing their new RPG as being set in a world like Middle-earth, but it won’t be a direct Lord of the Rings game – it could be something entirely new. While it’s still early days, the first Kingdom Come game was very well-received, and the team has promised this next project will be a massive and immersive RPG, so expectations are high.
