The prospect of venturing back to Earth in Warframe: 1999 and exploring a grungy, alternate world brimming with secrets is nothing short of exhilarating.
At TennoCon 2023, Digital Extres revealed several new additions for Warframe. Among them is the upcoming chapter, Warframe: 1999, scheduled for a winter 2024 release. This narrative expansion continues Warframe’s ongoing story.
In August, before the release of Warframe: 1999, players can experience the Prologue Quest titled “The Lotus Eaters.” This quest serves as an introduction to the upcoming chapter and sets the stage for its storyline. The action will shift back to Earth in 1999, where gamers can discover a gritty, alternate world filled with hidden mysteries to unravel.
Working with six distinct Protoframes, your mission is to find Dr. Entrati before the countdown to midnight and the start of Y2K reaches its end. As you progress, build connections and possibly even form romantic relationships. The musical backdrop will be ’90s boy band hits, supplied by On-lyne in an altered version called Technocyte Coda. Additionally, expect the introduction of the new Cyte-09 Warframe, a novel Atomicycle mount, Arthur’s AX-52 rifle, Protoframe Gemini skins, and exclusive emotes as rewards for your efforts.
In addition to embarking on The Lotus Eaters prologue quest, players can anticipate the arrival of Sevagoth Prime Warframe in August. Furthermore, a Warframe: 1999 anime short is predicted to debut this year. Moving forward, the Rhino Heirloom Skin will be permanently accessible for purchase starting early 2025, no longer tied to any time restrictions. The Ember skin can currently be obtained by players.
