Though its third season just finished airing this fall, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is ending with a fourth and final season. Currently filming in Spain, the season will continue the difficult journey home for Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride).
This eight-part series concludes the duo’s recent journey, where they fought against both zombies and humans throughout Europe. However, fans are wondering if this will be the final appearance of these beloved characters.
Norman Reedus recently spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the upcoming conclusion of the show and whether the fourth season will unfold as he anticipated.

He explained that the show has always felt personally connected to his life. He specifically noted that in season four, his character, Daryl, undergoes a lot of internal reflection, mirroring his own personal journey at the time.
I’ve been really lost in thought lately, especially while we’re filming this current episode. I’m completely consumed by everything about this character – thinking about where they’ve been, where they are now, and where they’re going. It’s like their whole life story is playing on repeat in my head!

So, I just heard from Norman Reedus that they’re filming episode six of this extended season right now, and he says they’re almost done! He thinks you could always add more to the story, but he also promised fans that the spin-off is ending on a really satisfying note, like everything’s tying up nicely.
We’re trying to understand how we arrived at this point – the reasons behind it, its significance, and our role in it. We’re also looking at what errors we made along the way and how we can improve our lives moving forward.

What we’re creating is pretty surreal and mind-bending. I’m constantly double-checking details, both in the story and in real life, and I keep being surprised by how things are unfolding.
The actor revealed that Daryl’s storyline wasn’t pre-planned, but rather evolved naturally over the four seasons of the spin-off. It developed ‘organically,’ without a specific ending in mind for the character.
I was recently asked if I had any idea what we’d be doing in future seasons while we were filming the first one. The answer is no. We don’t plan out future seasons in advance. The show evolves naturally as we create each season.
You can watch The Walking Dead on STAR on Disney+ in the UK, and on Netflix and AMC+ in the US. The spin-off, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, is available on Sky and NOW in the UK, and on AMC+ in the US.
