Walker's Jared Padalecki is joining a CBS series (and it could lead to a spin-off series)

As a dedicated fan who has followed Jared Padalecki‘s career since his days on Supernatural, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and nostalgia as he returns to Vancouver for his new role in Fire Country. It seems like fate that he should find himself back in the city where he spent 15 years filming, and it’s a testament to his talent and appeal that he never stays out of work for long!

Earlier this year, Jared Padalecki received some unfortunate news: his series, “Walker,” was terminated following its fourth season, as The CW undergoes changes due to the Nexstar takeover.

Despite taking a break from regular work, Padalecki hasn’t completely stepped away. Instead, he’s secured a three-episode guest role in a CBS dramatic series. This temporary stint could potentially lead to a full-blown show, signifying that he still has plans within the realm of broadcast television.

Jared Padalecki joins the cast of Fire Country

Padalecki is about to return to Vancouver shortly, as he filmed “Supernatural” there for 15 years. His frequent travels between Vancouver and Austin eventually prompted him (alongside Jensen Ackles) to conclude that it was the right moment to wrap up “Supernatural”. Swiftly after, he secured a principal role in a series based in Austin, thus enabling him to enjoy the best aspects of both cities.

Indeed, he’s returning to Vancouver, but it won’t last long. You can catch him in “Fire Country” Season 3 for a brief run of three episodes as a guest star.

In simpler terms, Camden Casey, portrayed by Padalecki, is a free-spirited individual with a laid-back charm reminiscent of a surfer. He recognizes Bode’s innate abilities in firefighting. This recognition could pave the way for Bode to secure a position within the California fire department, allowing him to carry on his father’s legacy. However, it may also present challenges, as Camden seems inclined to guide Bode away from this path and follow his intuition instead of what others expect of him.

Camden is more Bode than anyone else on our show. I think they’re twin flames and similar and Camden’s able to encourage, draw out maybe the dangerous side of Bode, but he sees the talent and leans into it. He doesn’t try to put lightning back into the bottle.

It seems his character was tailor-made for Padalecki, as he shares a close friendship with Max Thieriot, the lead in “Fire Country.”

Jared Padalecki could get a Fire Country spin-off

It’s possible that Camden might take the main role in a forthcoming spin-off TV show. However, it hasn’t been specified how this would be arranged at present. Keep in mind that given Padalecki’s commitment to his children, who are still young, it seems unlikely he would opt for filming elsewhere than Austin on a full-time basis.

There might be an event that causes Camden to leave for Texas, which could potentially give rise to a situation analogous to 911, resulting in a new series like the Lone Star spin-off.

The concept for the “Sheriff Country” spin-off is currently in its early stages, but work is already underway. This new series will debut as part of the 2025-2026 television season, and CBS may be considering another project for the 2026-2027 season, potentially featuring the Padalecki drama.
