vowels SS25 Embraces a Full Color Palette
Locally crafted Japanese brand vowels is back with its third installment. Designed by creative director Yuki Yagi, the Spring/Summer 2025 collection plays on this year’s biggest color trends. Olive green, burnt orange, deep blue, and cherry red serve as bright but classic additions to any spring wardrobe.
The collection originally debuted last June during Paris Fashion Week. The full-day presentation was staged at Musée des Arts et Métiers: Shunkashuutou and represented a deconstructed performance across spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Set to a remix of Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons,” different looks were presented on four stand-alone scenes representing the progression of time.
Referencing his own design archive, Yugi aimed to recreate “products that go well with any outfit you own and allow you to keep running in your lane.” The collection combines the brand’s core design tenants of relaxed silhouettes and statement patterns. Classic polos are updated with a wavy stripe, and patchwork denim made a signature return. Graphic t-shirts feature prints from historic Peruvian, British, and Grecian pottery, while antique Japanese prints form the core motif of the collection.
