VIT coach Faded comments on the team adapting to meta shifts at VALORANT Masters Bangkok

Coach Faded provided insights on how flexible Team Vitality can be when it comes to adjusting to changes in the VALORANT meta, as demonstrated in their recent series against DRX.

At the VALORANT Masters Bangkok, Team Vitality is making its way steadily towards Playoffs as the initial qualifier, having defeated both Pacific region teams, namely T1 and DRX. In our post-match press conference, we posed a question to coach Daniel “Faded” Hwang following their victory over DRX.

2021 has brought about significant alterations in the strategies employed by VALORANT teams. The meta transition, arguably one of the most substantial in the game’s lifespan, has been intriguing. From introducing a fresh Agent right off the bat to constant modifications in the map rotation, we’re curious about how our team adjusts to these dynamics and maintains its dominance.

Coach Faded discusses his Team Vitality players and their ability to control the VALORANT meta

Attending these post-match press conferences at VALORANT Masters Bangkok feels like an exclusive peek behind the scenes, offering me a unique opportunity to hear from players and coaches as a collective unit. This setting allows them to engage in meaningful dialogue with one another, creating moments of camaraderie and occasionally sparking hilarious banter among teammates, making the experience all the more enjoyable for us fans!

At other instances, you might find situations similar to our interaction with Coach Faded, where he can share about his team members being exceptional stars on Team Vitality. We invited him to run through the individual talents of each player and how they’ve demonstrated their remarkable abilities across various game scenarios or metas.

Here’s what he had to say:

Indeed, it seems that if we were to discuss each player individually, the conversation might last around 30-40 minutes, and they are aware of this. There are a few points I’d like to address first. Let’s start with Less; I find his grasp of the game particularly intriguing, and I often find myself contemplating it.

I understand, I apologize if my earlier statements gave a different impression, but he truly grasps the game profoundly. His knowledge goes beyond mere mechanics. He consistently ponders various strategies with diverse compositions, coming up with unique ideas or alternative approaches to highlight each composition’s strengths and weaknesses.

In addition, I believe this trait of his mirrors Sayf’s perspective on games as well. To put it simply, Sayf has a knack for grasping the intricacies of agents and seamlessly integrating them into various systems.

Each player contributes ideas on how we might adjust our gameplay, sharing their challenges, observations, and suggestions for addressing them, as well as identifying potential weaknesses. This feedback aligns with our flexible approach to the game.

However, it also impacts our perception of the meta, as well as the methods we can employ to adjust or modify the meta. I believe this is a crucial aspect when considering teams in the Pacific region, for they are highly organized and boast robust systems that perform exceptionally well.

They utilize numerous strategies, rotations, and distinct procedures, which they implement. Our approach, in turn, involves blending these tactics with our knowledge of regional expectations. In my opinion, this is where every player’s insights truly matter.

We adapt and mold the ‘meta,’ if you will, according to our preferences. As we compete against other teams, we observe their playstyles, but ultimately, we construct our team based on the unique qualities of our players. Essentially, we’re leveraging each player’s individual strengths.

– Daniel “Faded” Hwang, Team Vitality VALORANT Head Coach

In that spot, he concluded by mentioning that if he delved into details about the other players, he might reveal confidential information. At this point, Sayf interjected with a humorous comment, suggesting that to learn more from coach Faded, we should purchase the additional content.

It was hilarious how that ending turned out, and it’s evident that this team is exceptionally organized, boasting exceptional players who are determined to win and have a clear understanding of what it takes to achieve victory.
