I’m so excited to share that Virgin River season 7 is officially happening! It’s a bit of a change because the show usually kept release dates under wraps, but we finally know when to expect it. Season six just dropped in December 2024 and was a huge hit, and the new season promises even more of Mel and Jack’s story. Just be warned – it looks like things are going to end on a really big cliffhanger!
Netflix announced that season 7 of Virgin River will arrive on March 12, 2026. This marks the first time the popular romantic drama won’t release a new season annually since it began in 2019. This consistent release schedule is particularly noteworthy given the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and actors’ strikes. It’s also remarkable because streaming shows, and Netflix Originals in particular, often have extended gaps between seasons.
Based on Robyn Carr’s novels, the show Virgin River ends its seventh season with a big mystery surrounding Charmaine (Lauren Hammersley). After jumping ahead in time, the show leaves viewers wondering if she’s still alive. Charmaine disappears without a trace, prompting her ex, Jack, to investigate. He finds clues suggesting something may have happened to her, but her ultimate fate remains unclear.
The cast of Virgin River is growing! Sara Canning, known for her role as Aunt Jenna in The Vampire Diaries, will join the show as a former police officer who was injured in the line of duty. She now works as an investigator for the state medical board and will be looking into Doc’s practice. Cody Kearsley, who starred in Riverdale, will also be joining the cast as Clay, a teenager in foster care who is trying to find his sister.

Benjamin Hollingsworth, Tim Matheson, Annette O’Toole, Colin Lawrence, Zibby Allen, Sarah Dugdale, Grazzini, Kai Bradbury, and Kandyse McClure will all be back for another season of Virgin River. Joining them will be some new faces, but Mark Ghanimé, who played Dr. Cameron Hayek starting in season four, won’t be returning as a main cast member, as confirmed by showrunner Patrick Sean Smith.
The popular series Virgin River has been renewed for a eighth season, making it one of the longest-running original shows on streaming platforms. While it doesn’t generate the same buzz as shows like Stranger Things or Wednesday, Virgin River has a dedicated following eager to find out what happens with Charmaine.
