The following article contains spoilers for Virgin River season seven.
All episodes of Virgin River season seven are now available on Netflix, and it doesn’t disappoint with plenty of dramatic cliffhangers, surprising twists, and emotional revelations.
After so much history with the show, fans have really grown to love the actors who’ve been with it for a long time, so it’s always shocking when they leave. Season seven will see two of these beloved characters say goodbye.

The show’s main cast has stayed consistent throughout its seven seasons, with very few changes. In an interview with Deadline, creator Patrick Sean Smith explained that he doesn’t believe in making cast changes simply to revitalize the series.
I’m focused on ensuring the show has a long life and that the characters we’re continuing with have enough compelling storylines to sustain it, he explained.

We don’t have any immediate plans to change the cast, but as the story evolves, we’ll likely need to introduce new characters and say goodbye to some existing ones.
Unfortunately, we’ll be losing two familiar faces in season eight: Detective Mike Valenzuela, played by Marco Grazzini, and Charmaine, played by Lauren Hammersley. Marco Grazzini has been a main cast member since season three, and Lauren Hammersley has been with the show since the very beginning.
Okay, so don’t freak out just yet! Apparently, the showrunner, Melissa Smith, told Deadline she’s still a big fan of Marco and thinks he could definitely come back to the show if the writers come up with a good storyline for him. That’s a relief, honestly!
Regarding Charmaine, Smith stated there are currently no plans for her return in Season 8. However, he’s open to bringing the character back in the future, but wants to give her a storyline that goes beyond dramatic cliffhangers and false pregnancy plots.
Speaking of cliffhangers – season seven has debuted to some divisive reviews.

Reviews for the show were mixed. ScreenRant found it disappointing and unfinished, while Tech Radar praised it, giving it a high rating and highlighting how well it sets up the already-announced eighth season.
It felt like getting an undercooked steak when you specifically asked for it well done. You can see the potential for something great, but it doesn’t quite deliver. While season 7 was a little disappointing, I believe it was intentional – setting the stage for a much more dramatic and exciting season 8 of Virgin River.
