Comments on Schultz and Marcuzzi’s videos suggest widespread agreement that the performer resembles Britney Spears. Ranging from “I’m telling my kids this is Britney Spears” to “This is close enough, welcome back Britney Spears!”, one comment even exclaimed, “You’re the only person I can see playing Britney.

Still, it may be some time before any decision is made on who will take on the coveted role. 

In August, Universal Pictures secured the rights for Britney Spears‘ tell-all memoir, with Jon M. Chu and Marc Platt set to oversee its development as directors and producers respectively.

Nevertheless, there have been no recent developments regarding the movie; Chu had to quell casting speculations earlier this year.

The insider mentioned that it would take a significant amount of time before any progress is made on the Britney biopic. They explained that director Chu and the rest of the team are in no rush to cast an actress as Spears, as they prefer to finalize all other aspects of the film first.

According to the source, Jon Chu wishes to fully focus on it, but due to his current obligations, he can’t do so entirely at this moment.

In this race, there’s no clear frontrunner yet. That being said, for anyone, whether established or just starting out, the opportunity remains wide open.

The news bodes well for Marcuzzi and Schultz who look prepared to do anything.

Last year, Schultz, who graduated this spring from Ithaca College with degrees in film, dance, and theatre, found out about the official production of a Spears biopic while recuperating at home in Pennsylvania. She described having a ‘gut feeling’ about the Spears biopic. 

She explained, “There’s this intuitive sense, when you come across something online that really unnerves you – it’s a sure sign that you feel deeply about it. And that’s precisely how I felt.

Without a doubt, Schultz and Marcuzzi share a remarkable likeness with the popular singer, but embodying the legendary performance art of that music icon requires much more than mere physical semblances.

Apart from having a similar appearance to Spears, the fortunate actress should also showcase dance and vocal skills that match or even rival those of Spears’ exceptional talent level in both areas.

The selected individual should ideally possess a substantial amount of acting background as well, since it’s not appealing for viewers to watch a movie that is overburdened with an inexperienced main actor.

Ultimately, it is highly probable that Britney Spears herself will have the final decision on who will play her role in the production, unlike the intense audition process similar to Madonna’s ‘boot camp’.

And Spears has already shared her thoughts about who she does not want to be hired for the lead.

A source disclosed to DailyMail.com that the artist behind Hit Me Baby… One More Time has declined to consider Millie Bobby Brown for a part, despite her expressing a longstanding desire for this role.

An insider reported that Brown hasn’t had a direct conversation with Spears. However, they mentioned that the singer, deeply engaged in the project, has viewed her audition video.

Apart from being deeply involved in the casting process, Spears is also crafting fresh tunes for the movie’s soundtrack. The preparations for the film sparked her creativity to produce a brand-new hit single.

It was exclusively reported by Daily Mail in October that Britney Spears herself is creating songs for her forthcoming biographical movie’s soundtrack, taking an active role in the production process.

For Marcuzzi, she’s prepared to go as far as moving back to Kentwood, Louisiana, to capture perfectly the subtle Southern drawl of the character – whatever it takes to secure the role.

She’s shared that she’s extensively researched the topic and is fully committed to putting in whatever effort is necessary to prepare for this part. She’s even learned method acting, and if need be, she’d spend a year in Kentwood to master the character’s speech, mannerisms, and background, as these elements significantly influenced her development.

She mentioned, “Whether it’s through dance, song, or learning accents, I’m adaptable. I enjoy my versatility.

While Marcuzzi acknowledges that her likeness to the singer offers an advantage in the contest, it’s her unique relationship with Spears’ narrative that truly distinguishes her from the other contenders.

‘I don’t know if anyone would be perfect because there’s only one Britney,’ she said.
