Villains Land: New Disney Map REVEALS All?!

An up-to-date map of Disney’s Magic Kingdom might uncover prospective sites, boundaries, and access points for the upcoming Villains Land in Walt Disney World.

On the That Park Place YouTube channel, WDWPro, a seasoned Disney analyst, discussed his insights regarding the amount of information this particular image provides. He delved into the potential requirements for connecting the upcoming zones, as well as hinting at the possibility that Disney might be apprehensive about Epic Universe’s success based on certain aspects of this image.

As a film enthusiast, I’ve taken a close look at the fresh map of the enchanting Magic Kingdom, and it seems there are some changes worth mentioning. The beloved Tom Sawyer’s Island and Rivers of America, which have recently closed, are no longer visible on this new layout. Instead, an intriguing textured green area has been added around the current attractions. This green expanse appears to be a subtle hint of Photoshop, according to some experts.

Interestingly, this green area seems to replace the now-closed attractions and even extends upward above Fantasyland, reaching as far as the railroad tracks. It’s an intriguing sight that could potentially offer insights into the upcoming expansion plans for this magical kingdom.

Theorized Locations

On That Park Place’s YouTube channel, WDWPro suggests that it’s probable that the area between the northern railway tracks and the concealed service road behind Fantasyland’s attractions will be occupied by Villains Land.

Later on, Pro outlines four possible spots where the new Villains Land might be linked to the rest of the amusement park.

  • The first is another road from Frontierland.
  • The second is the spot between “It’s a Small World” and the Rapunzel bathrooms in Fantasyland. Behind the wall is part of the access road that could be re-themed. The potential con though is that this part of the access road is longer and would require changes to existing buildings. Pro stated this is likely as the new map extends the building to “It’s a Small World.” This is different from previous maps as the rest of the building is part of the backstage area.
  • The third potential connection is the restrooms of Gaston’s Tavern. These could easily be replaced by a bridge over the access road. With some themed walls to hide the backstage area, guests could pass over without noticing. With the road being lower in elevation than Fantasyland, Disney could more easily build a bridge without revealing cast-member only areas.
  • Last, Disney could construct an access point to Villains Land in Storybook Circus, potentially replacing the charging tent in the northeastern corner. This option is less likely for a few reasons. First, Disney would have to construct a longer bridge to cover the access road. Thus, the potential cost would be higher.

Some Possible Concerns

While this undoubtedly provides a suitable space for expansion, WDWPro highlights some potential issues that Disney may encounter.

One common complaint among Disney enthusiasts, expressed first by Pro, is the disappearance of the Rivers of America. This cherished attraction was a staple on the Magic Kingdom’s opening day. It would have been possible for Disney to utilize the upper stretch of the Rivers of America for new sections while preserving Walt’s original attractions in their original state.

Critics are upset about the recent elimination of popular landmarks, fearing that Disney is disregarding its founder’s vision and innovations. A suggestion has been made that Cars Land, previously known as Piston’s Peak National Park, could have been placed in the northwest corner without necessitating the total demolition of those two attractions.

In the past, we frequently visited Walt Disney World, but it’s less often these days. However, I have numerous pictures captured during our trips there. Unfortunately, I will miss sights such as this one once Rivers of America is removed.

Another point to consider is that the expansion of Villains Land could make it the most extensive region in Magic Kingdom, surpassing Tomorrowland. While some enthusiasts might find this exciting due to the appeal of frightening characters, others argue that it would be more fitting for Hollywood Studios since Magic Kingdom symbolizes dreams coming true, not encountering nightmares.

Moreover, the drive behind Villains Land also hints at a broader issue within the Disney corporation. Given the triumph of Epic Universe and its Universal Monsters’ Dark Universe zone, it seems that Disney might be attempting to emulate their rivals in this endeavor.

According to Pro, Disney is essentially playing catch-up at this stage. Instead of originating ideas, they are more about refining and improving upon what Universal has already created.
