Vigil’s Shaun Evans spotted in-character in villainous role for BBC’s Liverpool-set returning drama

Shaun Evans, known for his role in Vigil, is filming for season two of This City is Ours. He’ll be playing Ozzie Thompson, a former gangster, in the Liverpool-based crime series. His participation in the show was announced last October.

So, I heard through the grapevine (Radio Times actually!) that this new character, played by Evans, is gonna be a bit of a bad guy. Apparently, he used to run with Ronnie – Sean Bean’s character – and when he gets out of prison, he’s gonna come looking for the Phelans, demanding they pay him something for… well, something from their past. Sounds like trouble is brewing!

The story picks up with Michael and Diana immediately pulled back into a mystery surrounding Ricardo’s death, shortly after arriving in Spain. Back home in Liverpool, the rest of the gang is dealing with increasing conflict. Adding to the trouble, a former gangster, recently released from prison, is demanding money from them.

Shaun Evans, best known for playing Morse in Endeavour, swaps sides to play villainous ex-gangster Ozzie Thompson in season 2 of the Liverpool drama for BBC1 – Shaun was pictured on location for the first time as filming for season 2 continues in Liverpool.

Before Evans appears in the show, James Nelson-Joyce (who also plays Michael Kavanagh) told Radio Times that the Endeavour actor gives a fantastic performance as Ozzie.

Season two of the show will bring even more intense storylines for the Phelan family, and a new actor, Álvaro Morte, is joining the cast. He’ll play Felipe Guzman, a character seeking revenge for the death of his brother Ricardo (Daniel Cerqueira), who was killed in the first season.

I’ve finished filming my part for season 2 of This City Is Ours! The cast and crew were amazing, and I loved working with everyone – they felt like family! Plus, Liverpool is a fantastic city.
