The new BBC sitcom, Small Prophets, created by Mackenzie Crook – known for his role in The Office – will be released soon. The show, which was announced last year and will air on BBC Two and iPlayer, stars Pearce Quigley as a character named Michael Sleep.
Seven years after his partner, Clea, vanished, Michael attempts to conjure magical spirits using a recipe his father, Brian, had given him.
Armed with a recipe, Sleep cautiously begins to create Homunculi – magical spirits believed to be able to foresee the future.

According to the official announcement, the show will feature beautiful animation and tell a story about friendship and hope. It blends magical elements with everyday life, all set against the backdrop of secrets and lies within a typical suburban neighborhood.
The six-episode series, which was filmed in and around Manchester, is scheduled to premiere on BBC iPlayer and BBC Two in February.

Crook will be acting with Palin and Quigley in the series, and Lauren Patel, Sophie Willan, Jon Pointing, and Paul Kaye are also joining the cast.
Crook, who is creating a show for the first time since Detectorists ended, explained that the idea has been developing for almost ten years and is now ready to be released.
I’m thrilled to be working with Gill Isles and Pearce Quigley again, and I’m especially excited to finally collaborate with animators Ainslie Henderson and Will Anderson – it’s been a long-held dream of mine.

Producer Gill Isles expressed her excitement about collaborating with Mackenzie once more on what she described as a hilarious, heartwarming, and original series.
Jon Petrie, Director of Comedy at the BBC, said that viewers of BBC Two are in for something special with Small Prophets, a new show from BAFTA-winning Mackenzie Crook.
This hilarious and imaginative series is packed with clever writing and delightful surprises. Featuring a fantastic cast – including Mackenzie, Sir Michael Palin, Sophie Willan, Pearce Quigley, Lauren Patel, and Jon Pointing – and supported by a talented creative team and beautiful animation, it truly showcases the best of British comedy.
