Victoria’s Secret Model Became Guardian at 28, Now Facing Bears in New Show

Leomie Anderson shared insights into the most difficult periods of her life, detailing how they equipped her for her role in Celebrity Bear Hunt.

A 31-year-old supermodel is among the twelve well-known personalities participating in an exhilarating series of events in Costa Rica, which also features adventurer Bear Grylls, aged 50. They will be required to complete risky and physically demanding tasks together.

However, prior to the unfolding of the series, Leomie has shared that she’s no stranger to hardships. She spoke candidly about taking on the role of guardian for her cousins at the tender age of 28 years old.

She told them about suddenly taking on the role of a parent to her two adolescent relatives, who were 15 and 10 years old at that moment.

She mentioned that caring for her cousins as a guardian for a span of two years was likely one of the hardest ordeals she faced in her life.

‘That was very challenging, but also very rewarding because I basically became a parent overnight.

‘I learned many valuable skills such as patience, resilience, comprehension, teamwork, and community engagement, which I will apply during the Bear Hunt.’

Leomie mentioned that her cousins didn’t depart until May of the previous year, having come over in 2021. She stated, “They had only recently departed last May, and I was 28 when they arrived.

The popular model from Victoria’s Secret recently shared her struggles when she had to assume the role of caregiver for her cousins, all while dealing with the news that her father had been diagnosed with cancer.

During a conversation with Square Mile in November, she mentioned that when she learned her father had cancer, she took on the role of caring for him.

During that period, I assumed the role of their caregiver for my two youthful cousins as well. Although I wasn’t the most junior guardian, the weight of responsibility was immense due to everything unfolding almost simultaneously over a few short months.

I hold great admiration for those who are younger than I am, as they often find themselves in leadership or authoritative positions.

In simpler terms, Leomie shared that she chose to participate in the Celebrity Bear Hunt as a way to challenge misconceptions about models and, moreover, as a tribute to her father who bravely fought cancer and passed away in December 2022.

She mentioned that she chose to undertake the Bear Hunt as it seemed fitting to dispel any preconceived notions about models and their abilities.

‘People seem to believe that we prioritize our appearance over intelligence, which is far from the truth. I am keen on dispelling these misconceptions.’

Additionally, I’d like to accomplish this task as a tribute to my father who passed away two Christmases ago. I am confident that he would be extremely proud of me for this endeavor.

In those challenging times when I seem to falter or feel overwhelmed, I’ll remember to channel my father’s spirit. He always encouraged me to push through, reminding me to keep going no matter what.

The queen of the runway asserted that she didn’t view her fellow celebrities as rivals, but rather, she was resolved to demonstrate just how much effort and dedication she could put forth.

She stated, “I’ll make an effort to challenge myself and strive for excellence, aiming to become the most optimal version of myself.

2019 marked the moment when Leomie became Victoria’s Secret‘s first black Angel. She expressed her eagerness not for winning the competition, but rather to challenge and test herself instead.

She expressed the hope that she would gain a fresh perspective on her identity and newfound resilience. Being placed in unfamiliar situations can be challenging since it’s hard to predict one’s response.

I’m really looking forward to experiencing a totally fresh and unfamiliar setting. I’m merely hoping that I make a good impression, and under this high-stress situation, I manage to remain authentic and maintain my optimistic persona.

Starting February 5, the Celebrity Bear Hunt show will be hosted by Holly Willoughby and will debut on Netflix.

The streaming platform claims that a contest involves a band of unexpected celebrities being transported into the dense Central American wilderness, where they become potential victims for one of the globe’s most formidable hunters – a bear.

In this program, he challenges the contestants, pushing them to their limits. Those who don’t measure up will encounter the ominous ‘Bear Hunt’, a grueling cat-and-mouse scenario where they are pursued by Bear, and if caught, they face removal from the competition.

Alongside Leomie, Spice Girl Melanie Brown, Shirley Ballas known from Strictly Come Dancing, actors Kola Bokinni and Joe Thomas, retired rugby player Danny Cipriani, and model Lottie Moss are all heading to the jungle together.

Additionally, singer Una Healey (from the group The Saturdays), broadcasters Steph McGovern and Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, retired tennis star Boris Becker, and media personality Big Zuu will also be part of our elite roster.
