Critics are calling Victoria Beckham’s documentary ‘compelling,’ ‘deeply personal,’ and ‘engaging.’
The new three-part Netflix series launched on Thursday morning, after a glamorous premiere event the night before in London. The superstar attended with her husband David and three of their four children.
After the show was released, critics shared their reviews, praising its look into the life of a globally recognized woman. This came shortly after a similar documentary series about David was released on the streaming platform last year.
Metro gave the show a fantastic 4.5-star rating, calling it ‘jaw-dropping’ and highlighting the surprisingly funny and relatable portrayal of Victoria. They also praised her knack for delivering witty lines that quickly went viral.
Although critics at publications like The Telegraph and The Financial Times gave the show low ratings – two stars each – all the reviews highlighted the lead actress’s believable portrayal of someone navigating the challenging fashion industry.

Alana Anderson, a self-proclaimed Spice Girls enthusiast writing for Metro, said a recent documentary changed her perspective on Victoria Beckham.
Growing up as a Spice Girls fan, I never really connected with Victoria – she just didn’t seem very relatable to me.
Honestly, my perspective completely shifted after watching the new Beckham documentary series. I’m going to say it – Victoria Beckham has become my absolute favorite celebrity, and I think other A-listers could really take note of how she handles things. She’s a true inspiration!
Okay, so Victoria is *finally* opening up, and it’s intense! She’s really getting into how much she struggled with her body image – she talked about her eating disorder, which was so brave, and then she revealed she actually had her breast implants removed! She said it was to get away from that ‘WAG’ image everyone had of her, and honestly, it’s so powerful to see her reclaiming her story. I’m completely captivated!
In one part of the story, she remembers the famous World Cup when the wives and girlfriends of the English players received more media attention than the players themselves.
Back in 2006, the wives and girlfriends of the soccer players grabbed everyone’s attention when they arrived in Baden-Baden. Their over-the-top behavior and glamorous clothes caused quite a stir.
Victoria Beckham, widely considered the most famous wife and girlfriend of England’s footballers (a ‘WAG’), was spotted enjoying a night out with Coleen Rooney, Cheryl Cole, and Toni Terry. Looking back on that time in a documentary, she admitted, ‘It was fun! I had a great figure and big hair.’
Okay, so she *admitted* she totally downplayed her figure while she was in Baden-Baden – she actually said she ‘buried her boobs’! And honestly? The Telegraph said it was this *amazing* line, like it could go totally viral just like that moment with her Rolls Royce in David’s documentary. It’s just… iconic, you know? Everything she does is gold!

According to Anita Singh of The Telegraph, the most interesting parts of Victoria’s story are when she discusses her life experiences. Singh notes that Victoria is intelligent and has a talent for crafting memorable phrases.
Okay, so everyone *knows* Katie Price, right? And honestly, the way she talked about getting her breast implants removed? It was *iconic*. She literally said, ‘I buried those boobs in Baden-Baden,’ and it just perfectly summed up her whole attempt to move away from that really over-the-top, ‘WAG’ image she had back during the 2006 World Cup. No one could have put it better, honestly. It was such a statement!
‘She also covers serious subjects, including childhood bullying and an eating disorder.’
Guests raved about the star-studded cameos and heartfelt tributes to their friend, including appearances by Anna Wintour, Donatella Versace, Tom Ford, and Eva Longoria.
In a review for The Independent, Helen Coffey gave the three-part series three stars, noting that it follows a familiar format seen in many recent celebrity documentaries – similar to those featuring Victoria’s husband.

The production is polished and visually appealing, and the lineup of celebrities brought in to speak about Victoria’s hard work and commitment is remarkable. Anna Wintour, Donatella Versace, Tom Ford, and Eva Longoria all contribute to the show’s glamorous feel.
It’s hard to believe the portrayal of Victoria as a determined underdog who overcame huge obstacles to become a designer…
It’s a classic success story: a well-known singer married a famous soccer player and, leveraging her existing wealth and connections, built a thriving fashion brand. She essentially used her advantages to achieve even greater success.
