Victoria Beckham has opened up about her skin issues during her Spice Girls days, explaining how they affected her self-esteem.
The 51-year-old fashion designer, who was in a band from 1994 to 2000, said she used makeup to cover up how uncomfortable she felt.
Victoria shared that she used to collect products that were no longer made, especially items she enjoyed. She also mentioned that makeup artists would create custom samples perfectly matched to her needs.
She posted a clip to Instagram on Tuesday from her Netflix documentary, which became available earlier this month.
In the video, Victoria talked about her passion for makeup, explaining that she’s been interested in it since she was a young child.
She explained that she’s loved makeup since childhood. She remembers going to school every day and being immediately sent to the bathroom to remove it.

I used to struggle with really bad skin, and it made me self-conscious. I remember avoiding eye contact with people, almost like I was hiding behind my skin.
I’ve been collecting things I loved for as long as I can remember – whether it was discontinued items or tiny lipstick samples mixed by makeup artists when we couldn’t find exactly the right shade.
‘And now with my beauty business, I can obsess over everything.’
As someone who’s always exploring ways to feel your best, I’ve learned that a natural look is often the most beautiful. I’m a big believer in being mindful about the products I put on my skin – it’s all about choosing things that enhance your features without feeling heavy or artificial. I really prioritize being careful with ingredients and formulas to keep things healthy and glowing!
Victoria has often spoken about feeling self-conscious about her skin, which has been prone to acne since her teenage years. She found it particularly challenging to deal with skin problems while becoming famous in her twenties.
She recently shared a peek at her makeup routine with fans while promoting her new products, casually relaxing in a white robe with her hair wrapped in a matching towel.
In the video, Victoria began by shaking the makeup products – explaining she did this ‘to wake them up’ – before she started applying primer.
She applied a light shade (TFC8) of Victoria Beckham Foundation to her face, focusing on the areas she wanted to highlight, and then blended it in with her hands.

Victoria explained she prefers makeup that doesn’t settle into wrinkles, as foundation that emphasizes creases is frustrating.
‘I like to keep my skin looking like skin and see it through the foundation, I like flawless skin.
I’ve always been honest about my skin issues, so I’m really cautious about using products that might cause irritation.
I’ve really struggled with acne and feeling self-conscious about my skin. This product has been great because it not only helps with breakouts, but also minimizes the appearance of sun damage and gives my skin a smoother look.
I love how this product makes my skin glow. I really dislike foundations that feel stiff or restrictive, and I’m very particular about what I use – I absolutely adore this one.
‘It looks so natural but the perfect amount of coverage’, the mother-of-four added.
Victoria used her Victoria Beckham Colour Wash in the ‘flushed’ shade on her cheeks and nose to create a glowing, sun-kissed effect.
She captioned the post: ‘FLAWLESS FROM THE FIRST DROP
Victoria describes this foundation as feeling weightless while delivering complete coverage. Designed for those who prefer a minimal makeup look, The Foundation Drops blend seamlessly into the skin for a natural, flawless finish. It’s also formulated with Augustinus Bader’s TFC8®️ technology to nourish skin while you wear it.

Victoria has shared that she used to appear serious in photos because she felt insecure about her skin.
The fashion designer became well-known for her serious, unsmiling expression, rarely showing emotion even at public appearances.
Last year, Victoria told The Telegraph she used to feel very uncomfortable having her picture taken because she wasn’t happy with herself and couldn’t bring herself to smile naturally.
Victoria shared that she consulted with dermatologists and now carefully follows a skincare routine to keep her skin healthy and clear.
Victoria realized she often appeared serious in photos, but explained it was simply because she felt awkward and self-conscious about how she looked.
Her infrequent public appearances and lack of smiling weren’t only due to her skin condition, but also because of the restrictive diet she followed.
Victoria Beckham is known for having a very simple diet. Her husband, David Beckham, has shared that she’s been eating the same meal – grilled fish and steamed vegetables – almost every day for the past 25 years.
Victoria explained her strict diet was due to skin problems, so she eliminated foods like meat and wheat.
Victoria is now much more confident and self-assured, and she often smiles warmly at others.
She’s become so comfortable with how she looks that she’s even started going to fancy events wearing very little makeup.
She said she would have thought someone was crazy if they’d told her a few years ago that she’d be accepting an award on a red carpet with just a touch of concealer – no foundation needed. But that’s exactly what happened last week.
The mother of five says she’s actually finding getting older freeing. She used to worry about what people said about her online, reading through comments, but now she’s too busy to bother with that.
