Victoria Beckham reportedly failed to win a trademark dispute with a Norwegian beauty brand owned by a supermodel. The decision was likely due to her relatively low level of recognition in Norway.
The 51-year-old fashion designer alleges that Vendela Kirsebom’s Vendela Beauty uses a logo very similar to her own, potentially misleading customers.
Victoria and her team shared sales data, media coverage, and their Instagram follower count to demonstrate their activity in the country.
The court found that the Beckham brand couldn’t prove how many of its followers in the Nordic region were specifically located in Norway. Additionally, the sales data they presented covered the entire Nordic region, not just Norway.
Vendela, a 58-year-old model who owns a skincare and makeup company, originally applied for her trademark in 2021 – several years before Victoria filed an opposition.

The patent office recently clarified that just because Victoria Beckham – Posh Spice, as many of us know her – is famous, it doesn’t automatically mean her initials, or a combination of them, are widely recognized enough to qualify for a trademark on their own. It’s a good reminder that building a strong brand takes more than just a well-known name!
The Sun reported that investigators found insufficient proof the company operated significantly in Norway, so it’s unlikely consumers would mistake it for another brand.
