Victoria Beckham gets candid as she talks shopping at Lidl, flying with Ryanair and picking up dog poo – and admits she hasn’t hoovered since 1997 thanks to ‘Mr Clean’ hubbie David

Victoria Beckham has been unusually open this week, sharing some very honest and personal thoughts.

Victoria Beckham, 51, has enjoyed a glamorous life built on her fame as a former Spice Girl, her successful fashion business, and her marriage to soccer star David Beckham.

I’m always fascinated by what Victoria Beckham is *really* like, and she’s been surprisingly open lately! She’s revealed she shops at Lidl, flies Ryanair – can you believe it?! – and even picks up after her dogs. The best part? She hasn’t had to vacuum since 1997 because David does it all! It’s so refreshing to see that even a global icon has relatable, everyday moments.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! I was practically glued to the news when I saw Victoria Beckham was asked if *she* shops at Lidl! Can you imagine?! Of course not, darling, it’s Victoria Beckham! But the best part? She said her *mum* shops there! Isn’t that just the cutest? It makes her seem so…normal, even though she’s, like, a total icon. I’m obsessed with this little detail, honestly!

When asked if she cleans up after her five dogs, she firmly replied, ‘Absolutely! It really bothers me when people don’t pick up after their pets in the park – it’s terrible!’

Even though Victoria enjoys the luxury of private jets, she’s also flown with budget airlines like EasyJet and Ryanair.

‘I haven’t hoovered in many, many years… David, Mr Clean, does all the hoovering,’ she added.

This follows Victoria’s recent revelation about the struggles her fashion business faced, which resulted in losses exceeding £66 million.

The designer launched her fashion label in 2008 with a small collection of dresses.

Victoria Beckham’s fashion line rapidly expanded to offer a wide variety of items, including handbags, coats, shoes, and accessories. However, due to excessive spending, the business soon started losing money, and she needed financial assistance from her husband, David Beckham, to cover the losses.

After 15 years, she turned a profit in 2023, thanks to a combination of factors: an £890 clutch bag, a £30 eyeliner, and a successful social media strategy. Specifically, her makeup tutorial videos on TikTok are believed to have been key to this change in fortune.

In her new Netflix series, David Belhassen, a businessman who invested in her struggling company, revealed that he also helped her get her spending under control.

In one shock admission he revealed the designer was spending £85,000 just on plants for the office.

David thought to himself that she really loved her plants, but they were expensive – around £70,000 a year, in fact. Plus, she was paying someone £15,000 a year just to water them, and that wasn’t even the full cost.

I decided to be completely honest with her, laying everything out as it was. Honestly, I had no idea how she’d take it, and I was a little nervous about her reaction.

I told Victoria we needed to completely overhaul the business, and that it would be difficult. After I finished speaking, she was quiet for a moment before responding.

Victoria admitted it was difficult to hear the criticism. She explained that her background was in entertainment, not business school, so it felt particularly challenging.

‘I didn’t realise it at the time but the waste was mind-blowing.

I went to great lengths for her, even sourcing fifteen unique linings for her coats and jackets – things like having custom-made fabrics shipped from all over the globe.

Hearing about it now is awful, and I realize I let it happen. I think a big part of the issue was that people were too scared to disagree with me.

‘There’s a power to be honest, the power of celebrity. People thought I wasn’t used to hearing no.’

David, whose millions of dollars in investment couldn’t save his wife’s struggling company, remembered being terrified as he watched their finances decline.

‘It made me panic, David confessed. ‘I was panicked by it because I never saw anything coming back.

We promised to always have each other’s backs, but I was concerned it wouldn’t last. It just didn’t seem realistic long-term.

Victoria added: ‘There was a lot of waste, we were millions of pounds in the red.

‘I didn’t know what to do and I was so desperate to save this business that I cared so much about.

I was completely falling apart and felt incredibly ashamed. It felt like I was trapped in a hopeless situation, sinking further and further with no way out.
