Victoria Beckham admits she internalises her feelings amid feud with son Brooklyn as she reveals how her four children turned her into a ‘control freak’

Victoria Beckham says raising her four children has taught her how to remain calm, even when facing difficult or stressful circumstances.

The 51-year-old fashion designer recently shared details about her life and career in a new Netflix docuseries named after her. The series shows both the successes and challenges she’s faced, both professionally and personally.

The three-episode documentary series chronicled Victoria Beckham as she prepared for her Paris Fashion Week show in September 2024, which was her most ambitious fashion event to date.

After receiving compliments on her ability to stay focused and calm even during stressful times, Victoria explained how she manages to appear so composed.

Speaking on the Skip Intro podcast with Krista Smith, she described how she tried to keep her emotions to herself to avoid burdening others, but confessed she was dealing with a lot internally.

I’ve always been a pretty disciplined person – it’s just part of my personality and how I live my life. I also handle stressful situations fairly well.

This is my approach to leading my team. I need to stay strong and positive internally, because if I don’t, it creates a negative chain reaction, and that just doesn’t help anyone get things done.

I make sure to work with talented people, and we collaborate extremely well. I consider fostering that kind of teamwork to be one of my key leadership strengths.

I tend to look on the bright side and stay optimistic. I really believe in the power of positive thinking, but I’m also dealing with a lot internally.

Victoria shared that raising four children with her husband, David – Brooklyn, 26, Romeo, 23, Cruz, 20, and Harper, 14 – has taught her the importance of discipline. She jokingly admitted she tends to be a bit of a control freak.

She admitted that, as a mother of four herself, she understood the challenges. She felt mothers naturally develop a certain understanding and ability to cope.

I used to be a real control freak, and making this documentary forced me to change. I realized I couldn’t control everything, and honestly, it’s been a good thing – I’m learning to let go.

I’d caught glimpses of the documentary as it was being made, but I didn’t see the finished version until the premiere.

Victoria’s statements follow a continuing disagreement between her and David, and their son Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz, 30. The families haven’t spoken for several months.

Some people are claiming Nicola is involved in the conflict, and that she advised Brooklyn to create distance between himself and his parents.

It seems the couple have distanced themselves from David Beckham’s family, skipping his father’s 50th birthday in May and becoming increasingly close to Nicola’s family instead.

Victoria recently hinted at a strained relationship with Brooklyn and Nicola, referring to a shift in her family dynamics.

During an appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast with Alex Cooper, she discussed her ‘close family’ without mentioning Brooklyn by name.

Victoria explained that she strives to create a supportive environment where her children feel comfortable talking to her about anything, and she encourages them to make their own choices.

She explained that their family is very close and open with each other. They emphasize the importance of communication and make sure everyone feels comfortable talking about anything, creating a safe and supportive environment.

When asked about how she and David navigate the evolving changes within their family, she emphasized that open communication is key.

That’s just how we’ve always approached raising our children. I’m really happy for them – they’re each unique and have their own individual interests.

The family hasn’t been photographed together since last Boxing Day. Brooklyn missed both his parents’ birthdays and wasn’t there to support his mother’s new documentary.

Furthermore none of the Beckham clan were present at Brooklyn and Nicola’s vow renewals in August. 

Oh my god, can you BELIEVE it? Brooklyn and his wife got married again, but they completely left out all of Brooklyn’s family! It’s just… heartbreaking! Apparently, David and Victoria actually found out about the whole thing by stumbling across it on some American website. Can you imagine? They weren’t even told! I’m absolutely devastated for them, honestly. It’s just so disrespectful!

This is quite different from Nicola’s family, who were very involved in the second wedding. Her father, Nelson, age 83, actually performed the ceremony, and her mother, Claudia, 70, wore a beautiful vintage wedding dress. They also took center stage at the reception, enjoying the spotlight once more.

Victoria seemed to be trying to reconcile with her son and daughter-in-law by including them in her documentary series, even though they were not speaking at the time.

During her September 2024 show at Paris Fashion Week, Victoria delivered a heartfelt speech expressing her wish to make her family and team feel proud.

The video quickly switched between shots of Victoria’s colleagues, while Brooklyn and Nicola were visible chatting with guests in the background.
