Victoria Beckham accidentally reveals glaring error in the suit she designed for David’s knighthood

Victoria Beckham noticed a noticeable mistake in the suit she created for David Beckham’s investiture ceremony on Tuesday.

The 51-year-old designer is famous for creating elegant, flattering clothes meant to be essential pieces in a woman’s closet.

It felt especially right that she created the outfit David wore for the most important moment of his life – being knighted by King Charles.

Following Sir David’s request, the designer used old photographs of Charles wearing a similar morning suit to create the very first menswear item for the Victoria Beckham Atelier collection.

While sharing photos of the suit online, Victoria noticed a small mistake: she’d accidentally stitched last year’s date onto the label.

It read: ‘SDB [Sir David Beckham] Victoria Beckham 04.11.2024.’ 

This lightweight suit features a classic three-piece design, made from high-quality British wool and mohair. It’s detailed with regal touches, most notably a unique chain on the lapel.

Fifty-year-old David, a former star for Manchester United and the England national team, completed his outfit with a classic look: a white shirt, tie, and shiny black dress shoes.

Victoria chose a specially made Bela dress from her own brand for the ceremony, possibly hinting at the direction of her fashion line – a plan to design clothes for both men and women.

She shared a photo with Sir David, taken at Windsor Castle on Tuesday, and wrote, ‘A day we’ll never forget.’

David is wearing the very first custom-made menswear outfit created by Victoria Beckham – a three-piece morning suit crafted from British wool and mohair, and designed with the classic elegance of traditional British royal attire in mind.

Oh my gosh, Sir David being knighted? It’s SO deserved! He’s not just a sports icon, he actually cares and uses his influence for good. I’m absolutely thrilled he’s been recognized for everything!

After the ceremony, the former footballer mentioned that King Charles had complimented his suit.

Sir David revealed that the King, known for his fondness for tweed, unexpectedly influenced the suit’s design. The suit itself was a sophisticated grey wool piece, featuring single-pleated trousers, a tailored jacket, and a unique lapel chain.

He always dresses so well – he’s the most stylish man I know. I’ve taken inspiration from his style many times, and this outfit is definitely one of them, he said.

My wife created this for me. I’d been looking at old photos of my grandfather wearing morning suits when he was younger, and I decided that’s what I wanted for myself. So, I asked my wife to make it, and she did a fantastic job.

Oh my gosh, his outfit! It was exactly like the one Prince Charles wore to Ascot in 1979 – seriously, every single detail was perfect. I nearly fainted, it was like seeing a photograph come to life! It was the morning suit, you know, the classic one… I’ve studied all his photos, and this was a spot-on recreation. Absolutely incredible.

The Daily Mail reported that preparations for David Beckham’s suit for Tuesday’s ceremony started in June, after the couple found out he would be knighted in the King’s Birthday Honours.

David had multiple fittings at his wife’s design studio in west London and is reportedly very pleased with how everything turned out.

A friend shared with the Daily Mail that David jokingly complains Victoria never designs clothes for him.

When David announced his plans to marry at Windsor later in the year, Victoria felt she had enough time to make the necessary arrangements.

According to a source, this was a new experience for her, and she understood it would take a lot of time. However, she knew the official ceremony wasn’t happening immediately.

Victoria arrived at work and immediately began designing a three-piece suit. True to her nature, she dedicated herself completely to the task, ensuring every detail was flawless.

David’s choice of a Victoria Beckham outfit is sure to make an already great day even better.
