Vicky Pattison criticises ‘disappointing and irresponsible’ Kim and Khloe Kardashian for giving each of their kids puppies for Christmas – after PETA blasted the sisters for ‘inexcusably callous’ behaviour

Vicky Pattison has spoken out against Kim and Khloe Kardashian after they gifted puppies to their children for Christmas. She called the act ‘disappointing and irresponsible,’ following criticism from PETA, who described it as ‘inexcusably callous.’

Kim Kardashian, founder of Skims, recently added four dogs to her family, a move that sparked significant criticism online. Many people questioned her decision to give live animals as gifts to her children.

Khloe, her sister and a reality TV star, also welcomed a new Labrador puppy into her family over the holidays. She got the puppy from a breeder.

TV personality Vicky has criticized the Kardashian sisters for appearing to overlook the issue of homeless animals, especially since they recently displayed their new pets to their large Instagram audience of 654 million followers.

The celebrity, known for her love of rescue dogs – she adopted her Labradors, Milo and Max, in 2021 and 2022 – criticized Kim and Khloe Kardashian for purchasing ‘designer dogs’.

I’ve been hesitant to write this because I really don’t want to upset Kardashian fans, especially while I’m enjoying the holidays. But some topics are important enough to risk getting negative comments.

As a mother, I completely understand the desire to make your children happy during Christmas, and Khloe and Kim Kardashian are no exception.

However, they did not. As two incredibly famous and influential women, they could have used their reach to help dogs in need around the world. Instead, they overlooked the issue of homeless animals and chose to buy puppies from breeders for their children.

I don’t mean to sound critical – and I admit I enjoy keeping up with the Kardashians just like anyone else – but this is about being responsible. If these sisters had chosen to adopt a pet instead of buying a designer dog, it could have made a real difference for thousands of animals in shelters.

I’m really happy these sweet animals found loving homes with families who can provide for them. I truly believe this was a wonderful outcome and a great chance to make a positive impact.

It’s heartbreaking that millions of wonderful animals – of all ages, breeds, and backgrounds – are waiting for homes in shelters worldwide. Sadly, this number often goes up in January and February when people abandon puppies given as Christmas gifts that no longer fit into their lives. For many of these animals, that’s just their unfortunate fate.

Vicky emphasized that getting a dog is a big responsibility, not something to be taken lightly. She encouraged people to think carefully before adopting, or to consider donating to animal shelters, which are always in need of help.

She emphasized that dogs are not presents and puppies shouldn’t be treated like disposable items. She found the current trend deeply concerning and irresponsible, and encouraged everyone to carefully consider the commitment of adding a pet to their family, suggesting they seriously think about adopting instead.

As a huge animal lover, I want to share some amazing dog shelters I believe in on my stories. They’re really struggling right now and need our help to care for all the sweet dogs waiting for their forever homes. If you’re able, please consider donating whatever you can – every little bit makes a difference! Let’s help these angels find their families. #adoptdontshop

Vicky followed up on Instagram, explaining that many rescue dogs don’t have behavioral problems or past traumas.

Okay, so get this – I’ve been scrolling through the comments, and as I knew would happen, everyone’s freaking out about dogs with a history – ‘past trauma,’ they call it – being around children. It’s just…ugh, predictable! They’re all saying they wouldn’t trust them, and honestly, it’s driving me crazy!

There’s a lot of misunderstanding when it comes to shelter dogs. It’s sadly true that many of them have experienced difficult and traumatic pasts, and it’s important to acknowledge that.

Many dogs end up in shelters for various reasons, and sometimes those dogs are puppies born to mothers who came into care. These puppies often have no behavioral problems or past trauma – I just wanted to point that out.

Vicky finished her presentation by promoting her local animal rescue and others nationwide, enthusiastically explaining that they accept all abandoned dogs.

I’m so impressed with @southeastdogrescue, a local rescue that takes in all kinds of dogs – abandoned, abused, and those with nowhere else to go. They truly give dogs a second chance.

The team is fantastic, and any contribution you can make to support their work would be greatly appreciated. You can find a link to donate below.

I was also thrilled to hear about The Pack Project UK, a fantastic organization that rescues cats and dogs. They’re doing amazing work, but honestly, they really need our help – they’re currently in a desperate situation when it comes to funding.

After the Kardashian sisters gave puppies as gifts to their kids, PETA founder Ingrid Newkirk criticized Kim Kardashian’s gift and supported those who publicly disagreed with it.

Newkirk also called out Khloe for failing to adopt a dog from a local shelter.

PETA’s Ingrid Newkirk criticized Kim Kardashian for promoting a plush toy instead of adopting a shelter dog, stating that she’s receiving deserved criticism online for it, according to the Daily Mail.

It’s deeply insensitive to ignore the problem of homeless animals, and we urge Kim and Khloe Kardashian – who have previously adopted pets – to contact PETA or a local animal shelter if they’re considering getting another animal. They could also make up for overlooking this issue by having their children volunteer at a shelter, sponsoring an adoption event, or funding a spay/neuter day to help reduce the number of unwanted puppies.

Kim received a lot of criticism online after revealing she’d given each of her children a puppy for Christmas.

She shared a heartwarming photo of all four of her dogs snuggled together on the couch, captioning it, ‘Each child now has a puppy!’

Kim Kardashian shares four children with her ex-husband, Kanye West: daughters North, age 12, and Chicago, 7, and sons Saint, 10, and Psalm, 6.

Some fans took to Reddit to criticize her decision.

‘Puppies are not Christmas gifts for kids,’ one Reddit user wrote.

Someone else agreed, saying that animals shouldn’t be given as gifts unless the recipient has specifically asked for one and is prepared to care for it properly. They strongly emphasized how wrong it is to give a pet without considering the long-term commitment.

Someone commented that if each child gets their own puppy, it loses its significance. They questioned how the siblings would learn to share affection for a single pet if they each have their own dog, treating it like a virtual pet.

Someone pointed out that people often don’t understand the commitment of pet ownership. They get animals simply because they’re cute or to please their children, but lose interest when the pet gets bigger and requires more care. The commenter found this behavior frustrating and irresponsible.

‘This is honestly so sad,’ another person chimed in.

Someone else seconded, ‘This is wrong on every level in every conceivable way.’

The four new additions to the family aren’t the only Pomeranians that Kim owns.

She also has dogs Sushi and Sake, whom she adopted with her sister Kourtney Kardashian in mid-2017.

In 2022, she came under fire after she appeared to show the dogs living in her garage.

North, who runs a TikTok account with her mom, shared a video of their pets wearing miniature coats and strolling around the garage.

The dogs appeared to be in a large pen with pee pads inside.

The video highlighted the puppies’ Christmas decorations, which included a small Christmas tree and stockings.

However, the post received strong criticism, with many fans accusing the SKIMS founder of not giving her dogs a suitable home.

Kim wasn’t the only one getting a new pet for Christmas! Khloe also adopted a Labrador puppy named Peppermint.

‘I am going to cry she’s the best in the world,’ she gushed.

She also tagged Big Creek Labradors, a Labrador retriever breeder based in Indiana.

My heart melted when I heard Khloe’s little ones, True and Tatum, really wanted a puppy for Christmas! But it’s more than just a cute gift, you know? There’s a really special reason behind getting this dog, and it means so much to their family.

Khloé Kardashian, the founder of Good American, previously had a black lab named Gabbana. Gabbana passed away in 2018 at the age of fourteen.

Khloe shared a heartfelt message after Gabbana died, fondly referring to her dog as her ‘first child’.

I’m heartbroken to share that my beloved Gabbana passed away last night. She wasn’t just a pet; she was like my first child, and my closest friend and companion.

I’m heartbroken over losing my dog. Fourteen years is a long time to spend with a beloved companion, and she was a huge part of my life. I’m so grateful for all the joy she brought me, and I’ll cherish her memory forever. I love you, Goober!

Peppermint is settling into his new home, and Khloe has shared videos of True and Tatum bonding with him.

One of the family’s Russian Blue cats is getting used to the new kitten, and a picture shows her curiously watching Peppermint sleep from the back of a chair.
