Vick Hope admits she’s ‘bricking it’ as she returns to work at the Glamour Women Of The Year Awards after giving birth with a quip about THAT graphic placenta post

Vick Hope spoke about the explicit photo of her placenta that she shared after giving birth to her first child this summer. She discussed it while hosting the Glamour Women Of The Year Awards on Thursday night.

Radio 1 presenter Vick Hope and DJ Calvin Harris have welcomed their son, Micah. Harris announced the birth with photos on Instagram.

He shared a disturbing photo of Vick’s placenta online. He then processed it by drying and grinding it into a powder and encapsulating it into pills.

This practice, called placentophagy, is believed by some to offer postpartum benefit.

Back in the public eye for her first project and red carpet appearance since having a baby, she admitted to being very nervous about being on stage.

Speaking on stage, she jokingly credited her husband with posting something, then enthusiastically praised placentas. She expressed a desire to celebrate motherhood and powerfully acknowledged the incredible feat of childbirth, describing it as truly majestic.

‘And now you’ve all seen my placenta too!’

Let’s be real, going back to work after having a baby is tough. I totally get it! I was a nervous wreck before my first big project postpartum – seriously, I was a bundle of nerves! And sleep? Forget about it! Thirteen weeks of very little sleep will do that to you. Plus, dealing with all the joys of new parenthood…well, let’s just say things can get messy – really messy! It’s a chaotic, beautiful time, but definitely not glamorous.

Vick asked the audience to be understanding as she returned after her maternity leave, and they responded with cheers.

Oh my gosh, she was absolutely breathtaking that night! She had on this gorgeous, light pink dress – strapless, can you believe it? – and her dark hair was styled perfectly, all sleeked back. I couldn’t take my eyes off her, honestly. It was a perfect look!

Her husband Calvin shared the image of her placenta back in summer when she gave birth.

Some believe eating the placenta after childbirth can help with things like preventing depression, reducing bleeding, balancing hormones, boosting mood and energy, improving milk production, and providing nutrients like iron. However, scientific evidence doesn’t support these claims – there’s no proof that it actually offers any health benefits.

In a follow up post Vick then included a look at some placenta artwork hanging in the family home.

The artwork is created by imprinting the placenta onto a piece of paper or canvas after birth.

Calvin shared a new series of photos and announced the arrival of his son, Micah, on July 20th. He also expressed immense admiration for his wife, calling her a superhero and praising her incredible strength and wisdom.

‘Just so grateful. We love you so much Micah.’

Fans and friends sent their congratulations in the comments, and even DJ Oliver Heldens chimed in, jokingly asking about the placenta pills.

He exclaimed congratulations to the three of them, then jokingly asked if the pills were made of placenta. He added that he needed to quickly check something with ChatGPT to learn more.

I was so excited for Vick when she announced her maternity leave from BBC Radio 1 back in May! It wasn’t long after that she and Calvin headed back to their place in Ibiza to prepare for the arrival of their little one. I’ve been following her journey and was thrilled to hear she was getting ready to give birth there.

The celebrities were out in full force for the annual Glamour Women of the Year Awards on Thursday.

This year’s event, held at 180 The Strand, focuses on the theme of sisterhood – a celebration of bonds between women across all ages and around the world.

Since 1999, Glamour magazine has recognized and celebrated remarkable women who have achieved great things in many different areas.

Past winners have included Pamela Anderson, Kim Cattrall, Naomi Campbell and Victoria Beckham.

This year, the UK edition of the magazine highlighted nine transgender activists in its annual Women of the Year feature.

The list of people being honored includes up-and-coming models, actors, and musicians. The most well-known among them is Munroe Bergdorf, an activist known for controversial statements – she previously described all white people as racist and criticized the historical suffragettes as white supremacists.

Last year’s event saw wins for actress Simone Ashley, known for Bridgerton, Chloë Bailey of The Little Mermaid, and iconic actress Pamela Anderson.

With trans rights under growing pressure in the UK, the magazine wants to highlight the people who are leading the way and making a real difference in the trans community.

Caroline Hooley, who leads commercial partnerships at Glamour magazine, expressed excitement about collaborating with Simple, Tinder, and Parfums de Marly for this year’s Women of the Year event.

Every brand offers a special contribution to the event, whether it’s through promoting female empowerment, building confidence and encouraging self-expression, or simply crafting memorable experiences and connections.

‘Their support helps us honour incredible women in a way that feels both empowering and inspiring.’
