Veteran TV presenter Liz Cantor reveals how she will juggle jobs between rival networks Channel Seven and Ten
As a lifestyle expert with years of experience under my belt, I must say that Liz Cantor’s move is a game-changer in Australian television. Her ability to juggle jobs at two major networks is nothing short of impressive and sets a precedent for future collaborations between rivals.
Liz Cantor discusses her plans for balancing roles at two prominent Australian television stations.
The experienced presenter, aged 41, who will carry on hosting her two lifestyle shows on Channel Seven even after switching to Channel Ten’s 10 News First, disclosed that discussions took place with both broadcasting companies to create an agreement that suited all parties.
Liz shared with the Gold Coast Bulletin that Ten quickly gave approval, yet when she inquired from Seven if it was feasible to work on 10 News alongside Creek to Coast and Weekender, she was informed that such combination wasn’t an option.
When I enquired about the cause, it seemed nobody could provide an explanation. Persisting with my questions, they eventually responded, “Perhaps we can try to find something out.
Liz mentioned that, following numerous discussions, they ultimately agreed upon a deal that pleased everyone, allowing her to carry on hosting her lifestyle shows even after joining 10 News.
Upon receiving the long-awaited phone call, I happened to be filming a part for Creek to Coast. My superiors at Channel 7 then informed me, appreciating my 18 years of dedication to their shows, they managed to make it happen. I was given the opportunity to juggle both tasks. Overwhelmed by emotion, I broke down in tears.
She indicated that the agreement was advantageous for both Seven and Ten, and expressed her hope that similar agreements could be established in the future for other hosts, ultimately benefiting all significant broadcasting networks.
I appreciate the forward-thinking approach and open-mindedness displayed by both networks. At this point, instead of a competition between Seven, Nine, and Ten, it would be more beneficial for all free-to-air channels to collaborate and unite in order to maintain their viewership.
I take pride in being among the pioneers who work simultaneously on both networks. I wish it doesn’t become a unique trait.
Previously, high-profile personality Liz Cantor announced an unexpected change in her career path when she revealed her departure from Channel Seven and her subsequent shift to Network 10 last month.
The lively host announced her decision to leave 7News, a station facing troubles, following 17 years of service, and shift to Network 10 instead.

Instead, she later revealed a surprising twist – she won’t be departing from Seven entirely, but will continue hosting her beloved lifestyle programs instead.
In response to a fan’s question on Instagram about whether she was planning a complete farewell to Seven, she made it clear that she would still be performing her duties on Creek to Coast and Weekender.
In plain terms, she explained the unconventional partnership between competitors Seven and Network 10, characterizing it as a ‘daring step’ within free-to-air television, since presenters typically commit to working solely for a single channel.
This week, Cantor commenced her position at Network 10, where she presents the 10 News First Queensland bulletin live from Brisbane. She shares the program with another former reporter from Seven, Sharyn Ghidella, who was recently let go from the network due to job reductions.
