Vet clinic offers free belly rubs for ‘pets only and Ryan Reynolds,’ and the actor responds
As a seasoned movie critic with a soft spot for superheroes and a dash of Canadian humor, let me weigh in on Ryan Reynolds‘ latest venture, “Deadpool & Wolverine.”
Ryan Reynolds stumbled upon an irresistible deal at the Okanagan Veterinary Hospital in British Columbia, where they were giving out complimentary belly rubs to pets… and to none other than Ryan Reynolds himself.
Actor from “Deadpool & Wolverine” posted an Instagram story picture on Sunday, featuring a clinic’s sign that offered “Free belly rubs (exam required), but regrettably, it’s for animals, not humans… or Ryan Reynolds.”
1. “He chuckled, saying, ‘You can bet your last cent I’m not going to miss out on this deal,'” and “The main reason I turned into a golden retriever was for belly scratches.”
Over the weekend, the 47-year-old actor expressed a touching homage to his recent superhero movie, looking back on its journey from concept to the silver screen on Saturday.
“Ryan Reynolds posted on Instagram that the way #DeadpoolAndWolverine portrayed a moment is tough to grasp, feeling surreal, like it’s not really happening to him. Regardless, making these films has been an extraordinarily enjoyable experience…Making a movie is a labor of small steps, and the unyielding effort we put into this project during post-production (which is also a part of the writing process) is something I’ll never forget.”
The post included 20 photos showcasing the star’s involvement in the movie, featuring behind-the-scenes shots, production stills with cast members and some touching images of Reynolds with co-star Hugh Jackman and director Shawn Levy. It also featured a picture of Reynolds with the 5-year-old pug Peggy, also known as “Dogpool.”
In simpler terms, Reynolds wrote that it’s impossible to name everyone who has significantly influenced creativity, but he specifically mentioned his longtime writing partners, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, as they are crucial in the creation of the Deadpool film.
“Tim Miller, along with director David Leitch (known for hit summer film Fall Guy), 20th Century Fox, George Dewey and Kevin Feige, are key collaborators. But my deepest gratitude goes to my creative, spiritual (and almost literal) siblings, Shawn Levy and Hugh Jackman.”
The action-packed movie pairing of Deadpool and Wolverine, produced by Marvel, is still drawing large crowds to cinemas. It earned an impressive $97 million during its second weekend, making it the second highest-grossing film of the year so far, with “Inside Out 2” taking the lead position.
The third installment of the “Deadpool” series broke a record as the highest domestic opening for an R-rated film, earning $205 million. It also climbed to the eighth position for the largest second-weekend earnings in U.S. box office history, outperforming last year’s blockbuster “Barbie,” which made $93 million during its second weekend.
