Very wealthy Australian businessman tipped to be The Golden Bachelor – as Channel Nine finally confirms anticipated new series
As a seasoned television personality with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must admit that watching Samantha embark on her new journey with The Golden Bachelor is nothing short of captivating. Having spent years hosting Farmer Wants A Wife, she’s now ready to shake things up and dive into the world of dating for the over-50 crowd.
Australian businessman Mark Bouris looks set to make his return to reality TV.
The 68-year-old has been rumored to play the lead suitor in the upcoming series, as suggested by insider chatter reported by TV Blackbox.
Exclusive information from Daily Mail Australia reported last November that the reboot would be filmed in Australia.
Previously, the ex-star of The Apprentice and podcast host was prominently featured on Celebrity Apprentice Australia for Channel 9 and as the host of The Mentor on Channel 7.
The Australian version of The Golden Bachelor will be filmed in Sydney from February to April 2025. It’s anticipated that the show will air during the second part of the year.
The upcoming event will have Samantha Armytage as the host, after her unexpected exit from Farmer Wants A Wife.
Following the acquisition of exclusive rights to the timeless beauty spinoff of The Bachelor, which has revived the show’s popularity in the U.S, television experts hint that Nine is planning to extend an invitation to Bouris with their initial rose.
But the network may have their work cut out for them with the reality TV veteran.
Born and bred in Western Sydney, Bouris gained notoriety by selling off his Wizard Home Loans corporation for a staggering half-billion dollars and subsequently establishing Yellow Brick Road wealth management.
He is admired as a champion for the people, whose professional journey revolves around providing top-tier financial guidance accessible to every Australian.
After the dissolution of his second marriage in 2006, Bouris’s mother, Marsha, expressed concern to an Australian media outlet that her son seemed to have no other passions apart from work and his kids in his life.
This well-known reality TV personality, who appeared on The Celebrity Apprentice, is the father of four sons from various relationships. His last partnership ended in 2015.
In 2018, speaking to Stellar, I shared that my mother, though concerned, no longer ponders the reason behind my lack of golf play. Instead of worrying why, she’s now focusing on me and my well-being.
In an interview with Life Uncut hosts Brittany Hockley and Laura Byrne the previous year, Bouris openly discussed aspects of his personal life and also shared his preferred sexual position.
He replied playfully when asked by the podcast pair, “Is it possible to have more than one?
‘Woman on top.’
Reflecting on my personal journey, I’ve come to realize that for me, success isn’t defined by professional accomplishments alone. Instead, I see it as the loving and nurturing family I’ve been able to build and raise.
‘So, I’m only interested in my sons and my grandson. My measure for success is what my mum and dad would like to see from me and it’s not about money.’
The businessman said no amount of wealth he’s earned has changed him as a person, but that prioritising his work had ‘resulted in me sacrificing my long term marriage and the mother of some of my kids.’
In conversation with 9Entertainment regarding her latest role, Samantha expressed that the series focuses on discovering authentic love, subtly referencing a critique of her previous show, Farmer Wants A Wife.
Among all reality dating shows airing on Australian TV, the one from Channel Seven has been instrumental in fostering the most enduring relationships. In fact, over the course of its 13 seasons, it has resulted in no less than nine marriages, seven long-term relationships, and the birth of 26 children.
Samantha, who began as a temporary host on FWAW in 2022, has now taken on a thriving role that she described as follows: “If you’re searching for some romance and genuine affection, that’s exactly what we’re here for,” she emphasized. “This is all about discovering authentic love.
I can hardly wait for this show; it’s made a massive impact in the U.S., and I sense that it will do the same in Australia.
The Golden Bachelor provides an opportunity for individuals aged 50-60 to explore romance again, with its debut scheduled on Channel Nine sometime in 2025.
Host Samantha, who’s known for her outgoing farmer-seeking-wife show, left Seven Network after a long run of 21 years, surprising viewers in August.
At Nine’s Upfronts, her upcoming role on The Golden Bachelor TV show was officially revealed, as the network disclosed their lineup of programs for 2025 to their invited audience.
When Samantha received the invitation to participate in the show, she didn’t think twice about it. Given the massive popularity of The Golden Bachelor in the U.S., she believed it would also become a hit in Australia.
In the initial American adaptation, the lead role in The Golden Bachelor was given to Gerry Turner, a 72-year-old father of two who had recently lost his spouse. Subsequently, the spin-off series The Golden Bachelorette debuted with Joan Vassos, a 61-year-old widow, embarking on her quest for love.
In simple terms, the U.S. adaptation of the show has achieved remarkable success, with its finale attracting 6.1 million viewers, marking the highest viewership for a final episode of The Bachelorette in America since 2021.
