Vernon Davis Seeks To Heal His Lost Hearing In The Listeners Trailer

The first trailer is out for The Listeners, the upcoming film by Emmy-nominated director Joslyn Rose. Rose, who previously directed the sports documentary Stand, is now exploring themes of music and healing in this fictional story. The film features Blair Underwood (known for Longlegs), Super Bowl winner Vernon Davis (who also appeared in The Ritual Killers), and Bechir Sylvain (Jurassic World: Rebirth). It’s set to premiere at a film festival soon.

Written by Rose and Dominique Mouton, the film The Listeners centers around David, a jazz musician played by Davis, who mysteriously loses his ability to hear music. Underwood plays a doctor trying to figure out what’s wrong with him, questioning whether the problem is physical or mental. Simone Leanora and Cindy Herron also star in the movie. You can watch the trailer below.

The film The Listeners will debut at the Independent Filmmakers Showcase (IFS) Film Festival in Los Angeles next month, from May 13th to 24th, with screenings at the TCL Chinese Theatre. A second screening is scheduled for June 4th at the Culver Theatre as part of the 17th Annual New Media Film Festival.

Even before its official release, The Listeners had already won awards for both its lead actor, Underwood, and its director, Rose. This early praise points to strong performances, and the original music created by Grammy nominee No I.D. and Oscar winner Jon Batiste will likely deepen the film’s emotional impact.
