Vera’s Brenda Blethyn lands first role since show’s ending
As a gamer with a soft spot for British detective series, I must admit that Brenda Blethyn‘s departure from Vera has left me feeling somewhat like a player who’s just lost their favorite character to a glitch – frustrating, but knowing it’s part of the game.
Actress Brenda Blethyn, known for her role on “Vera,” has shared details about her upcoming venture after parting ways with the popular ITV detective show.
In April, it was revealed that Blethyn would be ending her involvement with the series following its 14th and concluding season, which is planned as a pair of extended episodes slated for broadcast in the coming year.
In an interview with The Sun, the actress shared: “I recently completed a movie penned and helmed by Paul Andrew Williams. As for its release, I’m not sure yet – it doesn’t even have a title as of now.
The actress additionally discussed the final two episodes of Vera, expressing: “Indeed, it was quite moving. I’m hoping they meet their usual quality, and I haven’t had a chance to watch them yet, the last two episodes. However, the stories sound promising.
As I wrap up my journey with the incredible series that is Vera, during the filming of its final season, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions. It’s been an absolute pleasure to be part of this show from day one, and now it’s time for me, the gamer in you, to bid a heartfelt farewell. But let me tell you, I stand tall with immense pride as I reflect on what we’ve accomplished together over the last fourteen years.
As a truly appreciative admirer, I’ll always hold a debt of gratitude towards the phenomenal Ann Cleeves for breathing life into Vera, and to Elaine Collins for bestowing upon me the privilege of embodying this captivating character.
I’ll greatly miss the exceptional team behind The Producers – the cast, crew, and everyone involved. Their remarkable talent, companionship, humor, and compassion will remain etched in my memory, along with the friendship I’ve gained from the people of the north east and our global fans. From the depths of my heart, I extend my deepest gratitude.
Back in July, the actress shared with her followers (on what used to be known as Twitter) that she was emotionally drained and fatigued following the completion of her last scenes as Vera.
Vera seasons 1-13 are available to stream on ITVX.
