Venom: The Last Dance ending explained – does Venom die?

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of comic-book movie experience under my belt, I must say that Venom: The Last Dance has left me absolutely spellbound. This third installment of the Venom series is an emotional rollercoaster that will tug at the heartstrings of even the most hardened action fans.

Venom 3 ending spoilers follow.

The conclusion of “Venom: The Last Dance” is bound to stir strong emotions among Venom enthusiasts, regardless of whether or not they were aware that this would be the last film in the series.

In the thrilling continuation, I find myself fleeing from trouble right where “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” left off. This time, it’s me, Eddie, who’s been falsely accused of Detective Mulligan’s murder. With Venom by my side, we devise a daring escape plan and set our sights on New York City. Our goal? To confront a judge, using whatever means necessary, to prove my innocence. The stakes have never been higher!

In my gaming world, things don’t quite pan out like Eddie Brock and Venom’s fugitive journey as originally planned, because Knull, the mastermind behind Venom, has got different schemes brewing for us. You see, Knull is stuck on the Klyntar homeworld and he needs a codex to break free, and guess what? That codex seems to have a special connection with our beloved duo.

The climax is packed with an exhilarating bang, leaving you pondering a significant query. So, let’s explore the conclusion of “Venom 3” to clarify matters and contemplate what lies ahead.

Venom 3 ending explained

In the initial film, it’s uncovered that when Venom resurrected Eddie, they combined to form a guidebook-like entity. This guidebook could potentially unlock Knull’s prison.

As long as both Eddie and Venom are alive, one might say the codex lives too (using an appropriate term). However, should either Eddie or Venom meet their end, the codex will perish alongside them. General Strickland, who understands the danger Knull would cause if unleashed, is undoubtedly eager to eliminate Eddie in order to prevent the release of Knull.

Strickland apprehends Eddie and Venom, with assistance from “the six,” an obvious reference to the Sinister Six, but not actually comprising them. He then transports them to a clandestine lab situated beneath Area 51, known as Area 55, where they are researching the symbiotes they’ve collected worldwide.

Prior to executing his scheme, the Xenophage assaults the base. In an effort to safeguard the Codex, which is also known as Eddie and Venom, the symbiotes imprisoned in the laboratory are set free and begin possessing different individuals.

Despite all the symbiotes, the seemingly unstoppable Xenophage cannot be halted, and this becomes even more challenging when Knull dispatches additional symbiote hunters to the base via portals.

Venom realizes that the sole method to eliminate the Xenophage and Knull is by making a self-sacrifice. With heavy heart, Eddie concurs and they proceed towards the enormous acid vat on the facility, a device that annihilates everything below it.

Eddie and Venom pull all the Xenophages beneath the tank, prompting Strickland, who had sustained injuries earlier in the fight, to activate it. Just as the acid started flowing, Venom shoved Eddie aside to shield him from harm.

“I’ll never forget you, don’t forget me Eddie,” Venom tells Eddie. “It’s just bye for now.”

Understanding that the acid wasn’t sufficient, Strickland ultimately resorted to detonating a grenade, thereby obliterating everything in the vicinity and, ultimately, putting an end to the Xenophages.

After some passage of time, Eddie finds himself awakening in a hospital. A puzzling military figure informs him that his past is now clean – on the condition that he keeps quiet about the true events. Subsequently, he journeys to the vibrant New York City with the intention of fulfilling Venom’s dream of witnessing the Statue of Liberty up close.

In the closing moments of Venom 3, he assures his companion, “I won’t let you slip my mind, friend,” as he gazes upon the statue. However, given the suspenseful nature of the story, one might wonder if Venom has truly met his end.

Is Venom dead at the end of Venom 3?

In the comic book universe, it’s rare for characters to remain truly deceased. For the time being, though, it appears as if Venom has given up his life in order to protect both Eddie and the world.

In their last exchange, Eddie hears Venom say, “It’s see you later,” leaving a glimmer of hope that it might not be a permanent goodbye. The third Venom film has indeed been confirmed as the concluding chapter in the series, but there are yet unexplored possibilities within Sony’s Spider-Man cinematic universe.

In a recent development, Knull is newly emergent across the cosmos. Despite being confined on Klyntar, he swears in the post-credits sequence that vengeance will be wrought upon all, leaving them to witness their own destruction.

As a die-hard Spidey fan, I can’t help but get excited by whispers that Knull might serve as the primary antagonist in Spider-Man 4. If this cosmic menace makes an appearance, it wouldn’t shock me one bit to see Venom resurface once more – and with Tom Hardy expressing interest in reprising his role, it seems like a distinct possibility!

It’s plausible that Venom could reappear since there might be remnants of the Venom symbiote housed in a lab on Area 55. Earlier in the film, a piece of Venom was collected and sent to this lab for examination.

It’s plausible that the shard from Venom, visible in the vial seen during the post-credits scene, is what has adhered to the roach that managed to get inside it.

In simpler terms, during the intense confrontation, the entire Venom symbiote could have merged together when other parts of Venom were taken to the lab prior to the explosion. It’s also possible to say that a fragment of Venom somehow survived the huge blast.

It’s also worth remembering that a piece of Venom symbiote was left behind in the MCU when Eddie and Venom were taken back to their own universe. It could well be this part of the symbiote that brings Venom back, even if not in the same universe.

It’s possible that Venom may not be bonded with Eddie in future installments, but considering their successful pairing so far, it seems unlikely that Sony won’t devise a means to reunite these characters again.
