Japanese esports organization VARREL is acquiring the championship-winning team SLT Seongnam from Ascension Pacific and will compete in VCT Pacific starting in 2026.

VARREL acquires SLT
Riot Games has announced that VARREL, a Japanese esports organization, will compete in the VCT Pacific league starting in 2026. The entire South Korean SLT team will be joining VARREL and will officially represent them beginning with the VCT 2026: Pacific Kickoff tournament.
I was so hyped when my team absolutely crushed BOOM Esports in Ascension Pacific 2026! It means they’ve officially made it to the top league – seriously amazing! It’s pretty cool that both teams coming up from Ascension this year are Korean, with Nongshim RedForce being the other one. It’s going to be a really competitive season!
Riot announced they’re excited to welcome VARREL to VCT Pacific, highlighting the organization’s strong background in esports and experience with teams from different regions. They also expressed their support for the players and coaches, who will now have greater access to resources and support as they compete in top-level VALORANT Esports.
SLT announced on X that they had been acquired, and shared a thank you message to their fans for all their support.
Likewise, VARREL posted a welcome to all the new members they are taking under their wing.
VARREL is a competitive organization with teams in several popular games. They’re involved in major tournaments for titles like Street Fighter, Tekken, Overwatch, League of Legends, Super Smash Bros., Pokémon Unite, and trading card games, and they even have dedicated youth teams for many of these games.
SLT dominated at Ascension 2026, winning all their group stage matches and then sweeping both NAOS Esports and BOOM Esports in the playoffs without losing a single map. Now backed by a stronger organization and more resources, they’re poised to be a serious contender in the upcoming Kickoff tournament.
There’s been a lot of change in the VCT Pacific 2026 league recently. TALON was removed from the league, and FULL SENSE has now taken their place, including their team roster.
