The latest season of *Wheel of Fortune* is here, and Ryan Seacrest is back as host for his second season. While he and his co-host haven’t quite reached the legendary status of Pat Sajak and Vanna White, they seem to be working well together. They even have a unique pre-show tradition that shows they support each other.
It’s amazing we’re already in the second season of *Wheel of Fortune* after Pat Sajak – a legendary game show host – stepped down. It’s been really nice to watch the friendly connection develop between Ryan Seacrest, who took over as host, and Vanna White, who’s been turning letters for years. Seacrest even gave her the cute nickname “V-Dubs”! White shared that they’ve actually established a pre-show routine. She told People magazine:
Before we go out, I turn to him and say, ‘Do I have lipstick on my teeth?’
She confirmed he was being truthful, and the casual way she said it – simply adding “of course” – showed how comfortable they are with each other. This comfort goes both ways, as they clearly enjoy supporting each other’s happiness. Ryan Seacrest once shared a particularly thoughtful gift he’d received from Vanna White, explaining:
She’s incredibly kind and thoughtful. I mentioned I drink a lot of strong black coffee, which can sometimes stain my teeth, and she was so sweet to bring me whitening strips. She actually went to the store the very next day to get them for me!
Ryan Seacrest might get fancier gifts, but sometimes it’s the little, useful things that are truly appreciated.
Vanna White and Ryan Seacrest quickly formed a great working relationship when he became the new host of *Wheel of Fortune*. Shortly after starting the job, Seacrest praised White, calling her a “legend” and saying she was as kind as everyone expects. Viewers got a glimpse of their rapport before his first episode aired, thanks to some playful behind-the-scenes footage shared by *Wheel of Fortune* from a photoshoot.
It seems the playful banter between them started quickly! Ryan Seacrest reportedly played a prank on his co-star by playing her 1996 Christmas album during a rehearsal, just to see if she’d recognize it. It took her a little while to catch on!
Fans are breathing a sigh of relief now that Ryan Seacrest and Vanna White seem to be working well together on *Wheel of Fortune*. This follows reports of some tension between them behind the scenes.
