Vanessa Williams hints at a Desperate Housewives reunion but admits it will be ‘hard to recreate the magic’ as she attends the Pride of Britain Awards

On Monday night, during a conversation about the famous show Desperate Housewives at the Pride of Britain Awards, Vanessa Williams subtly suggested a possible reunion.

The American actress, 61, admitted ‘it would be hard to recreate the same magic’ for a reboot but she would definitely be open to a reunion with the main cast. 

On the popular ABC show, Vanessa played the role of Renee Perry, appearing alongside Teri Hatcher, Marcia Cross, Felicity Huffman, and Eva Longoria.

To TopMob, she expressed: “It’s possible we might see a Desperate Housewives get-together again, but I’m not certain if there will be another season since it was so extraordinary and tied to its era, making it challenging to rekindle the same enchantment.

‘But do believe me if everyone said they will do it I’m sure we will make it happen.’ 

It was disclosed by Vanessa that a reunion might occur earlier than anticipated, as she extended invitations to her previous acting partners for her debut in “The Devil Wears Prada” on the West End later in the year.

She added: ‘I do communicate with the ladies, in fact, I chatted with Teri Hatcher just last week and extended an invitation to her for our opening event on December 1. Unfortunately, she can’t make it, but we’re hoping some of the other ladies might attend.’

For eight seasons, starting in 2004, the captivating show “Desperate Housewives” aired, focusing on the tight-knit female residents of Wisteria Lane. The series concluded in 2012.

Presently, Vanessa is gearing up to take on the role of fashion icon Miranda Priestly in the forthcoming West End adaptation of “The Devil Wears Prada.

The Tony nominated actress said she is ‘excited’ to take on the role after previously making her West End debut for a short period in City Of Angles before it closed during the Coronavirus lock down in 2020. 

The iconic character is modeled after the 2006 film where Meryl Streep portrayed Miranda, alongside Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt.

I had the privilege of starring in ‘City of Angels’ back in 2020, and we were all set for previews when suddenly, Covid-19 brought the world to a halt. In disbelief, I found myself saying, ‘You’ve got to be kidding; my West End debut is foiled.’ However, the moment I learned about the opportunity to bring this production here, I seized it without hesitation.

I’m equally thrilled to join this community and have the opportunity to embody Miranda Priestly. It’s a dream come true, as she is powerful, intense, and commanding, making every moment on stage captivating. I am delighted to be portraying such an iconic character, and I eagerly look forward to stepping into those iconic red stilettos.

“We’re all set now! We wrapped up our technical rehearsals for this week, and the public will be attending starting this coming Thursday. It’s an incredible feeling to be in London, and performing at the Dominion Theatre is nothing short of spectacular!

On the evening occasion, Vanessa was nothing short of stunning, catching everyone’s attention in a dazzling, sequined violet ensemble.

She teamed the blazer, which boasted eye catching shoulder pads, and the matching wide legged trousers with a pair of towering black heels. 

Vanessa gathered the length of her golden hair into a tidy half-up hairstyle and added a touch of elegance with a pair of dangle earrings.

Under the brilliant lights, the celebrated American actress gleamed with a stunning grin while striking poses for cameras on the glitzy red carpet filled with stars.
