At the Charles Finch & Chanel Pre-BAFTA Party held in London over the weekend, Vanessa Kirby gracefully took charge of the red carpet, showcasing an air of sophistication and refinement.

5 Hertford Street served as the venue where celebrities gathered for a pre-awards celebration. Both Lily James and Ellie Bamber were present at the event as well.

In a striking black, high-necked, knee-length dress adorned with gathers of white fabric, Vanessa, aged 36, was an absolute vision.

As a devoted admirer, I effortlessly pulled off a refined ensemble, mirroring my idol’s elegance by donning a pair of timeless stilettos. To top it all off, I swept my tresses into delicate, old-Hollywood waves that shimmered under the lights.

Lily, aged 35, chose a Chanel bouclé two-piece ensemble, which included a fitted jacket and coordinating skirt.

In this scenario, the actress accentuated her stature using a pair of high-heeled shoes and accessorized with a tiny handbag attached to a silver chain.

Ellie, aged 28, donned a light-blue textured coat that matched perfectly with a petite skirt, some opaque stockings, and high-heeled shoes.

On Sunday, the 2025 EE BAFTA Awards will be back for a spectacular evening filled with entertainment, honoring the outstanding movies of the year as well as the visionary artists behind their creation.

In 2023, the glamorous event that had been hosted at the Royal Albert Hall for six years found its new venue: the Royal Festival Hall within the Southbank Centre. It’s there that this spectacular affair will be held once more.

The EE BAFTA Film Awards encompass 25 competitive categories which are decided by BAFTA members. 

The program is going to unveil several thrilling enhancements, such as introducing a fresh category for Children’s & Family Films. This category aims to honor exceptional productions that captivate audiences of all ages.

For the first time in five years, a fresh category has been introduced, which represents the debut of a new EE BAFTA Film Award in half a decade.

In the Outstanding British Film category, a fresh aspect now involves a revised method for voting.

In the grand scheme, Thriller Conclave surpassed others with a total of 12 nominations in all categories. Meanwhile, Emilia Perez accumulated 11 nominations, and The Brutalist garnered 9.

At home, Conclave has doubled the number of nominations it received at the BAFTAs compared to its count at the Golden Globes held in Los Angeles last month.

In a more straightforward manner, the gripping mystery film featuring Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci, and Isabella Rossellini revolves around a clandestine and high-pressure election for a new Pope. Here, power struggles, individual ambitions, and hidden secrets ignite among rival cardinals, creating tension and drama.

The contender surpassed Emilia Páz Larramendi, the biggest winner at the Golden Globes, who secured the second-highest number of BAFTA nominations (11) following its collection of 10 awards in the American award show.

In a surprising turn of events, Gladiator 2 has once more been overlooked by award committees, as it didn’t secure a nomination for Best Film and its principal actor, the 28-year-old Irish talent Paul Mescal, was omitted from the BAFTA longlist for Best Actor.

62-year-old Demi Moore, who received her first acting award at the Globes for her role in Substance, has been nominated for Leading Actress in the upcoming Outrun awards alongside Cynthia Erivo, aged 38, from Wicked, and Saoirse Ronan, aged 30.

Experts in the film business think that being nominated for a BAFTA significantly increases the likelihood of the actress from the movie “Ghost” winning her first Oscar.

In other BAFTA nominations, Jeremy Strong and Kieran Culkin from the series Succession are set to compete against each other in the category of Supporting Actor. Their nominations were earned for their outstanding performances in the shows “A Real Pain” and “The Apprentice,” respectively.

As a devoted cinema enthusiast, I can’t help but feel a thrill of excitement as Adrien Brody’s movie, “The Brutalist,” garners an impressive nine BAFTA nominations. Not to be outshone, Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune: Part Two” and “Wicked” both secure seven nods each in the prestigious awards ceremony.

As a devoted follower, I find myself at the forefront among the nominees graced with the EE BAFTA Rising Star Award, all thanks to my captivating performance as Amy Winehouse in the 2024 movie titled “Back To Black.

On Tuesday, the list revealed for consideration includes Marisa, Jharrel Jerome, known for Unstoppable, David Jonsson from Alien: Romulus, Mikey Madison of Anora, and Nabhaan Rizwan from In Camera.

Coincidentally, David, Nabhaan and Marisa were all stars of BBC drama Industry.

The chairwoman of BAFTA, Sara Putt, expressed to the Press Association news agency that this year’s BAFTA nominations showcase an absolutely fantastic diversity.

She noted: “Additionally, when considering the top 10 movies for ‘Best Film’, it seems there are approximately six distinct genres represented.

In a variety of genres such as science fiction, comedy, thriller, and more, it’s quite surprising to find nominations for the chilling classics like Nosferatu, The Substance, and Heretic within the horror genre category.

Did you notice, the movie collection spans a wide range, from ‘Wicked’ to ‘Kneecap’. It’s an incredible list, boasting both variety and depth that makes it quite thrilling.

In my professional opinion, winning this accolade is often viewed as a stepping stone towards Hollywood’s elite tier, with past recipients such as Tom Holland, James McAvoy, Tom Hardy, Lashana Lynch, and Kristen Stewart gracing its list of honorees.

David Tennant will take to the stage to host the BAFTAs for a second year in a row. 

The actor, 53, first hosted the awards show last year, taking over from Richard E Grant.

Without a doubt, he’s expected to showcase his charm and wit, having made a highly praised first appearance that was viewed by more than 3.8 million households.

Over 20 million times, highlights from the event were watched by fans as they caught up with it via social media platforms.

This year, the Princess of Wales is expected to make a significant return to her royal duties with an impressive display at the upcoming awards ceremony.

A source revealed that BAFTA is putting maximum effort into ensuring Kate’s attendance, understanding the global excitement her arrival would create.

Last year, it was weeks prior when Kate couldn’t attend the awards due to her announcement in a video message on March 22 that she had been battling cancer. On the other hand, Prince William graced the red carpet solo at the Baftas.

The 2025 EE Bafta Film Awards will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 7pm on Sunday February 16.
