Vanessa Feltz’s fury at ex Ben Ofoedu’s callous broadside about her on his wedding day: Friends tell KATIE HIND how she ‘knows his game’ – and reveal inner his circle’s spiteful nickname

It was an outburst few expected on what should have been the happiest day of his life.

Immediately following Ben Ofoedu’s wedding to Vanessa Brown at the stunning Rose Castle in Cumbria last week, he swiftly fired a sharp criticism towards an earlier Vanessa, his former partner from 2006 to 2023.

Originally a prominent pairing within the entertainment world, they were set to wed but ultimately didn’t, and on their special occasion, Ofoedu chose to express some long-held issues during an interview instead.

In an exclusive interview with the Mail, the musician from Phats and Small, resplendent in a cream wedding-style attire, reminisced about his past romantic entanglement with TV personality Vanessa Feltz, who was once known for her advice segment on This Morning.

‘Never again will I do that. I wasted 17 years of my life,’ he said.

I’m no longer a fan of lengthy engagements. If there’s any uncertainty about the engagement, it might not be wise to move forward with marriage.

If you prefer not to make a commitment, it’s absolutely okay. However, avoid leading someone on by pretending to be committed while keeping them bound for a prolonged duration. Instead, grant them the freedom to move on and soar.

She is enraged that Ofoedu persists in mentioning her name to generate attention.

My acquaintance who’s close to the broadcaster shared with me this insight: It seems the parting wasn’t entirely friendly, and yet Vanessa hadn’t anticipated Ben continuing to discuss her in this manner even today.

It’s clear to her that whenever he talks about her, it boosts his reputation, but she has no intention of participating. She understands his strategy, and all she wants is for him to move past this as well.

Vanessa strongly dislikes it when Ben exploits her for personal promotion. She firmly believes that he may continue, but she has no intention of participating in any way.

‘It’s like Ben is on the wind up with Vanessa.’

Certainly, I understand that Ms. Feltz is deeply frustrated by Ofoedu continuing to seek media attention. It was reported that she became quite upset and angry when Ofoedu spoke to a colleague of mine about his relationship with reality star Precious Muir last year. In this interview, he alleged that Ms. Feltz had taken the best years of his life away from him and used him merely as eye candy.

Last year, she was reportedly injured when she needed to suddenly leave the West End production of Back To The Future following an unexpected encounter with Ofoedu and Ms. Muir, an event that garnered media attention.

In 2023, Ms. Feltz and Ofoedu parted ways after accusations surfaced that he had been untrue to their relationship. Later on, Ms. Feltz revealed an emotional incident where, upon learning of his infidelity, she jumped out of a speeding taxi because she couldn’t stand another word from him.

The stormy separation triggered numerous press conferences, rebuttal conferences, and years filled with unresolved animosity that hindered both sides from finding closure.

Ofoedu moved quickly in his relationships, first dating Ms. Muir and eventually marrying Ms. Brown, who is now known as ‘Vanessa 2.0’. However, things have been complex for Ms. Feltz. Rumors of Ofoedu’s infidelity reportedly left her heartbroken. Despite having a secret long-term boyfriend not in the limelight, Ms. Feltz has found solace difficult to come by during her single years. She even tried dating on Channel 4’s Celebs Go Dating as a means to find love.

How might Ms. Feltz have reacted when Mr. Ofoedu, age 52, announced his engagement to “Vanessa,” who at 29 is 34 years his junior, in February, following only a month of courtship?

After all, his romance with Brown was something of a whirlwind.

During a trip to New York over the holidays, Ofoedu proposed to Brown in Central Park, just before Valentine’s Day, with a grand gesture of getting down on one knee. Their wedding a week ago was a luxurious affair with 72 guests, many of whom are well-known personalities.

At the wedding, Shane Lynch of Boyzone served as best man, accompanied by his former bandmate Keith Duffy. Also present were Bradley McIntosh from S Club 7 and Lee Brennan from 911. The guests celebrated the couple with glasses of £33-worth Jean-Noel Heritage Champagne. Later, they enjoyed a £7,500 drone display that narrated their love story, which started in April of the previous year when they met coincidentally backstage at an event honoring successful businesspeople in Carlisle, where Ofoedu was performing.

The happy couple’s first dance was to Boyzone’s Every Day I Love You.

During a rather harsh exchange, Ofoedu declared he wouldn’t refer to Ms Feltz by name from now on, but still took jabs at her.

Ofoedu expressed, ‘I’ve longed for this particular emotion.’ Ever since I was a 7-year-old, I’ve dreamt of marriage. My wish has always been to find a partner who would share my last name with me.

‘I almost gave up on marriage thinking there wasn’t a lady that would walk down the aisle for me.

It’s hard to fathom, but here it is – the long-awaited day has finally arrived. It feels as if I’ve been chasing this moment since forever. Today marks the closing of a chapter in my life that spans over seventeen years.

Instead of mentioning his ex’s actual name, sources close to both parties have shared that Ofoedu and his closest associates casually call her by a pet name: ‘1.0’, which is their affectionate way of referring to the first Vanessa.

An acquaintance of Feltz’s remarked, ‘It seems as though Vanessa is the one who has been around longer.’ It’s a touch unkind. Granted, it appears Ofoedu doesn’t hold his ex in high regard, but for his friends to make such comments isn’t particularly kind.

‘You wonder if – and when – this fallout is ever going to end.’
