‘Vanderpump Rules’ will have a brand-new cast next season, like it or not
As a long-time enthusiast of reality TV and a connoisseur of drama, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions upon hearing the news that “Vanderpump Rules” is undergoing a significant change. On one hand, the show has been a staple in my weekly viewing rotation for years, providing endless entertainment with its colorful cast and their messy love triangles. On the other hand, I can’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia as we bid farewell to the original crew that made this show what it is today.
The show “Vanderpump Rules” that occasionally captured the essence of lightning during its 11-season run on reality TV will undergo some changes.
On Tuesdays announcement, Bravo revealed that they would be replacing the original cast with a fresh ensemble of tightly bonded SUR-regulars who share the same level of intricate personal relationships as their esteemed predecessors. As ever, Lisa Vanderpump will continue to be part of the cast and also serve as an executive producer.
Unannounced actors for the upcoming season will be chosen from the team working at Vanderpump’s renowned restaurants, SUR and TomTom, located in West Hollywood. Filming is set to begin next year, as confirmed by Bravo in their statement.
Supporters expressed their disappointment online as they feared “Vanderpump Rules” might suffer if its revamped version features a cast overly preoccupied with social media popularity, similar to how “The Real Housewives of New York City” has struggled in recent seasons.
The renovation of the show happened amidst a flurry of “Vanderpump” updates, with the most recent being Tom Schwartz and Tom Sandoval announcing on Monday that they will be closing their L.A. bar, Schwartz & Sandy’s, by the end of December.
In simpler terms, Sandoval is currently embroiled in a lawsuit over revenge porn involving his ex-castmate Rachel Leviss, following reports that he had an affair with her while still dating and working alongside Ariana Madix. The incident, known as “Scandoval,” gained attention after it was revealed that explicit images of Leviss might have been disseminated. Some viewers online speculated that the scandal contributed to the reboot’s delay or cancellation.
I’m shocked that Vanderpump Rules has been compared (similar to Real Housewives of New York)! I can’t forgive Sandoval for this. I need about six weeks to cope with this upsetting turn of events. #PumpRules
Previously co-actors such as Jax Taylor, Brittany Cartwright, and Kristen Doute have transitioned to a Bravo spinoff titled “The Valley.” During its initial season, brief appearances were made by Lala Kent and Scheana Shay. It remains uncertain whether they or other ex-“Vanderpump” cast members will make further appearances in the series.
In August, Taylor and Cartwright decided to end their marriage, an event likely to feature in the second season of “The Valley.” Additionally, Katie Doute revealed she is expecting her first child with partner Luke Broderick, as announced on Tuesday.
Bravo plans to broadcast a special episode looking back at the first 11 seasons of “Vanderpump Rules,” without specifying when it will be aired.
