Vampire Diaries star quit show due to Paul Wesley split
As a dedicated fan of The Vampire Diaries, I can’t help but feel a pang of sympathy for Torrey DeVitto as she recounted her experiences during her time on the show and beyond. Her decision to leave TVD after her split from Paul Wesley was understandable given the public nature of their relationship and the intense scrutiny they faced.
In her own words, Torrey DeVitto shares the reason behind her departure from “The Vampire Diaries,” revealing that it stemmed from her separation from Paul Wesley.
During the third and fourth seasons of the popular supernatural series, the actress portrayed Dr. Meredith Fell. She was wed to Wesley, another cast member known as Stefan Salvatore, during this time.
Instead, they parted ways in a divorce back in 2013, marking the end of their two-year marriage for DeVitto. She referred to this period as a particularly challenging and gloomy phase in her existence.
I’ve never experienced anything quite like that before, as it was a part of something extremely prominent and widely-adored. This notoriety naturally attracted notice due to the massive success and popularity of the show he graced with his presence.
Regarding her departure from “TVD,” DeVitto explained, “I had been a part of it for a while, appearing in about six episodes. After our separation, I decided against returning, feeling uninterested.”
As a gamer, I wouldn’t be the type to stick around and say, “Oh well, it’s just business. I’ll stay.” Instead, I’d assert, “Nah, I don’t feel like coming back. I’m good, appreciate it.”
The actress from “Chicago Med” revealed that the publicity surrounding her divorce exceeded her expectations, expressing, “It was tough because for a few years after, anyone I started dating was met with criticism. People would say, ‘He’s disgusting. He’ll never be like Wesley. How could you do this?'”
In the previous year, DeVitto revealed her engagement to filmmaker Jared LaPine. He proposed to her in a romantic setting while they were walking on their farm.
The couple have just learned they’re having their first baby together, which DeVitto revealed on Instagram back in May.
Sharing a sweet photo of her growing bump, the actor wrote: “Baby girl arriving this November.”
