VALORANT patch notes 11.06 – Banwave, replay system, and more

The latest VALORANT update, 11.06, focuses on addressing player misconduct and improvements to the replay system.

The latest VALORANT update, patch 11.06, is now available! This update includes details about a recent banwave, the long-awaited replay system, and a variety of bug fixes for all platforms. Here’s a breakdown of everything you need to know.

Banwave and AFK Penalty

Riot Games recently announced that over the last six months, they’ve banned 40,000 cheating programs (bots) in VALORANT. On September 15th, Leo Del Real from the VALORANT Competitive team shared details about the game’s continuing work to improve player behavior, starting with addressing players who go AFK or intentionally avoid queues.

We’ve recently updated how we handle players who go AFK or disrupt matches. These changes have lowered the AFK rate in competitive matches by 20% and in Swiftplay mode by 6%.

After listening to player feedback, the team realized the system wasn’t always recognizing when players repeatedly behaved badly. This meant a small number of players weren’t being penalized enough for their actions. Here are a couple of examples of what happened:

  • Players who had frequent, but less severe instances of disruptive behavior. Imagine a player who AFKs for 1-3 rounds every other game, but doesn’t have many larger AFKs
  • Players who had frequent disruptive behavior, but also played a ton of games. Imagine a player who plays 150 games in a month but AFKs in 15 of them

Even though only a small percentage of players were repeatedly going AFK (less than 1%), they caused a significant portion of all AFK instances – 13% across all game modes. Because of this, the development team is taking steps to address the issue more strongly. While disruptive behavior is already decreasing, they plan to keep improving their systems to fight AFK players and other negative behaviors, making VALORANT a better experience for everyone.

Bug fixes

VALORANT’s latest update, patch 11.06, doesn’t have a lot of bug fixes, but players found a strange glitch with Yoru and Reyna. Sometimes, after turning invisible, they’d unexpectedly reappear where they started when the invisibility wore off. The developers have already resolved this issue.

VALORANT patch notes 11.06

PC only updates

VALORANT is getting a replay system! Players can now watch their own competitive matches, plus games from modes like Unrated, Swiftplay, and Premier. Custom games won’t be available to replay. The feature includes a free camera, adjustable playback speed, and the ability to switch between players’ viewpoints.

The RawInputBuffer setting is no longer adjustable. It’s now always turned on for players because it improves performance.

Console only updates

Console players were experiencing problems with weapons being dropped unexpectedly and the Spike being highlighted even when they weren’t looking directly at it. A fix for these issues will be included in the upcoming patch 11.07. The team also confirmed that a bug causing problems with new player tips has already been fixed.
