In the upcoming VALORANT update 10.01, a fresh Rank Protection Shield will be introduced. This feature prevents your rank from decreasing after an unlucky or subpar performance in a game.
Over the past two weeks, Riot Games has released an update for their popular first-person shooter, VALORANT. This update is known as patch 10.01 and introduces the new Ranked Shield feature to the game. Here’s what you need to know about this update, along with a breakdown of its other changes.
How does the Ranked Shield work in VALORANT?
In the competitive mode of VALORANT, Ranked Shields are exclusively accessible. Every player receives a pair of these shields when they’re in the initial tier of any rank apart from Radiant. This means that players such as Silver I, Gold I, Platinum I, and so on all receive them.
If you end up losing a match with no Remaining Rank (RR), your first shield gets depleted. Losing another game following that instance, also at zero RR, will cause the second shield to be used. After this point, losing a game while still at zero RR will result in a decrease in your rank.
In the VALORANT ranked system, shields are exclusive to the initial rank tier. Once you surpass a rank like Gold 1, you won’t keep those shields for the next rank, such as Gold 2. Instead, they can only be utilized in the first tier where they were initially obtained.
