VALORANT officially joins the Esports World Cup alongside LoL and TFT
VALORANT is now part of the lineup of numerous video games set to be played during the 2025 Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Lo and behold! It may not come as a shock, given that hints were dropped in a recent report. Brace yourself, for the Spike is destined to be planted in Saudi Arabia, with the exciting world of VALORANT gracing the Esports World Cup from 2025 onwards.
In simple terms, it combines with other titles from Riot Games such as League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics. This collaboration between the EWC Foundation and the developer, Riot Games, now extends further. Moreover, there’s a business partnership where LoL Esports, VCT (Valorant Champions Tour), and TFT LAN events will showcase in-broadcast promotions.
VALORANT finds itself at the Esports World Cup with other Riot Games properties
For the next three years, VALORANT and other premier esports games from Riot Games will be included in the Esports World Cup lineup, as stipulated by their partnership agreement.
In 2025, we’ll see a broader competitive schedule for VALORANT tournaments compared to 2024, which means there will be more opportunities beyond just the main VCT. Due to scheduling conflicts in the previous year, VALORANT was unable to participate in the Electronic Sports World Cup (EWC), but that’s set to change in 2025.
Riot Games has significantly influenced the cultural landscape of competitive gaming, turning esports into a powerful global entertainment entity. Their flagship game, League of Legends, hosts the renowned World Championship that consistently pushes boundaries for interactive events, while games like VALORANT and Teamfight Tactics foster unique collaborations and community-led activities, respectively. This extends Riot’s influence beyond competition, creating a dynamic ecosystem.
When we introduce these game titles to the World Cup of Esports, it’s more than showcasing top-tier skill; we’re collectively fostering the growth of esports into a worldwide entertainment phenomenon. This unites fans from gaming, music, and digital culture, deepening our connections globally.

100 Thieves, led by co-founder and CEO Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag, is expected to participate in the Electronic Sports World Cup (EWC), thanks to his active role in marketing and announcements. However, we’ll need to see if they receive any other invitations or qualify through other means.
Creating rosters for the Esports World Cup could be enticing for organizations not currently part of the VALORANT Champions Tour partnership, as they would have the opportunity to compete across multiple game titles in pursuit of the prestigious Esports World Cup Club Championship.
