VALORANT Masters Bangkok playoff draw puts together two exciting matches

After wrapping up the Swiss Stage finale, Riot Games announced the initial playoff games for the VALORANT Masters Bangkok tournament.

After wrapping up the Swiss Stage, I can’t help but feel a rush of excitement as we’ve made it to the Playoffs at VALORANT Masters Bangkok! Only four teams remain, each hailing from different international leagues, all with dreams of lifting the trophy for this year’s first Masters tournament. Bring on the competition!

Let’s take a look at who is left and how they’ll match up in the opening round of the playoffs.

All VALORANT Masters Bangkok teams in the Playoff Stage

Previously mentioned, only four teams remain in the tournament, each hailing from distinct regions: Europe-Middle East-Africa (EMEA) and China qualified first, while teams from the Pacific region joined next, and lastly, those representing the Americas.

Here’s each team and their journey thus far:

  • Team Vitality – After reverse sweeping Team Liquid in the Kickoff final of EMEA, VIT drew T1 to start Masters Bangkok. A swift 2:0 victory sent them to the Pacific’s other team, DRX. They’d give up a map against them in a very close series, but Team Vitality punched their playoff ticket first.
  • Edward Gaming – The reigning world champions lost early on in the CN Kickoff, but fought through the lower bracket to win the whole thing. Slot them into Masters Bangkok where both opening maps they played went to a lengthy overtime. Still, they’d overcome TL and G2 to advance.
  • T1 – T1 fell to DRX twice in the Pacific Kickoff to take second place. They then lost to Team Vitality to start Masters Bangkok. Following that, they decimated Trace Esports and got their revenge against DRX finally to be the third team to make the playoffs.
  • G2 Esports – The last team to qualify for Masters Bangkok Playoffs is G2, the first seed of Americas. Marked as a favorite to win the entire thing, they took out CN’s Trace, but fell hard against world champion EDG. The bounce back against Team Liquid sent them through.

VALORANT Masters Bangkok playoff draw

Following the success of G2 Esports in securing a spot at the VALORANT Masters Bangkok Playoff Stage, attention then turned to the draw for the Upper Semifinals. This information was shared by Riot Games, as mentioned during T1’s stax post-match press conference.

As a gamer, I was spot on about the anticipated showdown between Edward Gaming and T1. The hype around that match was well-deserved, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. On the other hand, the Team Vitality vs. G2 Esports series has been a long time coming since both teams made their grand entrances at their respective Kickoff tournaments. I’ve been eagerly waiting for this face-off!
