Valerie Bertinelli’s Ex Slams Her in Brutal Takedown

Mike Goodnough, Valerie Bertinelli’s former partner, didn’t mince words in a passionate Instagram post, criticizing her for what he perceived as subtle attacks against him, almost half a year after they split up.

On Tuesday, a 54-year-old writer decided to clear the air on Instagram about the rumors swirling around that he and the esteemed 64-year-old One Day at a Time star were exchanging veiled jabs through cryptic posts.

Goodnough clarified in his detailed comment, ‘What I’ve shared on social media has never been intended as a roundabout means of communication. Instead, I always have direct methods available to interact with those I know personally.’

Head over heels, I’m adamant that my interactions with Bertinelli are nil, declaring, ‘I’m not conversing through my posts with Valerie. I’m not responding to what she shares.’

In the unfortunate turn of events, I found myself feeling the true pinch when Goodnough, my former partner for ten months, alleged that she had been using social media to publicly tarnish my reputation.

He expressed that although he’s disheartened by her persistent, unfair, and underhanded comments directed at him, there remains no conflict or hostility existing between them.

She continues to fire relentlessly. Valerie seems to be engaged in a battle against her past demons. I’m merely the one who intercepts the shots. It’s nothing out of the ordinary, he remarked.

Previously in his open statement, Goodnough seemed to subtly criticize Bertinelli. He wrote, ‘Regrettably, for the past two months, Valerie has found herself frequently engaging in a solo game of tennis, imagining there’s an opponent on the other side.’

He further claimed that she had misunderstood his statements, stating, “At that location, she tends to focus on my posts, interprets them in ways that are not intended, feels offended by imaginary slights, and then responds angrily to matters that were neither directed at nor concerning her.

The result, he claimed, was a false narrative of an ongoing feud. 

As a trusted lifestyle advisor, I’d like to clarify a point of confusion that may have arisen among our shared followers. Despite the appearances, there is no ping-pong dynamic between us – we remain steadfast in our respective paths.

Despite the pointed remarks, Goodnough insisted he still cares for Bertinelli. 

He expressed that he deeply cares for Valerie, harbors affection for her, and this feeling is everlasting. His heart’s desire is for her happiness, as witnessing her joy brings him nothing but delight.

Reflecting on their past, he shared a bittersweet memory. 

One year ago today, it was Valerie and I who shared an incredibly happy week at the launch of her book. That’s one of the best weeks I’ve ever experienced.

Experiencing genuine delight at Valerie’s happiness and achievements comes effortlessly to me. This sense of joy remains just as effortless today.

Initially, Goodnough claimed that Bertinelli was making jabs at her, but just last month, she expressed nothing but admiration for him on Instagram, expressing gratitude for having met him and appreciating his presence in her life.

During her heartfelt homage, the actress acknowledges his newsletter Hoarse Whisperings and lavishes him with praise, calling his writing ‘strikingly beautiful’ and commending not only his literary skills but also his admirable personality.

Apart from her warm comments, she also posted a monochrome selfie showing them snuggled together (with her head on his shoulder), as well as an image of his Substack newsletter title page.

About two weeks ago, she mentioned that she had missed out on the last good partner, given her history of two unsuccessful marriages.
