Val Kilmer dies: Josh Brolin leads tributes to Hollywood legend

It’s tragically reported that Val Kilmer passed away at the age of 65 due to pneumonia, according to his daughter Mercedes, as shared with The New York Times.

Known for iconic roles in films such as Top Gun, Heat, Batman Forever, and The Doors, this legendary Hollywood actor faced throat cancer in 2014 but managed to overcome it. This remarkable comeback was showcased in the critically-adored documentary Val, released in 2021.

In response to Val Kilmer’s passing, Michael Mann, director of Heat, expressed deeply sad sentiments. He admired the versatility of Kilmer’s acting abilities while they worked together on Heat, often finding himself in awe of the vast range and intense power that Kilmer conveyed through his characters.

In an unforgettable guest appearance, Kilmer once again took on the character of Iceman in the film “Top Gun: Maverick,” thereby concluding his acting career.

After the film’s premiere, Tom Cruise confessed that he shed tears upon seeing Val Kilmer’s moving portrayal in the sequel.
