Val Kilmer and Will Forte Almost Did The Amazing Race!
Val Kilmer nearly appeared on reality television with Will Forte.
After Kilmer’s passing at the age of 65, the comedian, who was then 54 years old, reminisced about his bond with Val.
In a letter to Vulture, Will disclosed that he introduced the Top Gun actor to reality TV, and they both made an effort to be contestants on the CBS show The Amazing Race.
He remembered saying, “I often watched The Amazing Race, and one day he returned home while I was tuned in, commenting, ‘Why are you watching that trash? It’s going to corrupt your mind.’ I responded, ‘It’s quite entertaining. You should give it a chance before criticizing it.’
The story went on as follows: ‘He settled down to watch it, and soon became thoroughly engrossed. At a particular moment, he exclaimed, “Will, we must participate in The Amazing Race together. We absolutely should! Let’s sign up for The Amazing Race.” I was instantly on board.’
However, the idea didn’t materialize as planned, according to Forte. He explained, “We became quite enthusiastic about it, but when we consulted our agents and managers, they responded, ‘That’s not feasible for you.’

The attempt happened years ago, but the Saturday Night Live alum still wishes it would’ve happened.
He shared that, looking back on his entire career, participating in The Amazing Race alongside Val remains his most significant unfulfilled dream.
He remarked, ‘I believe our escape would’ve been swift, but it would have been an unforgettable lifetime adventure instead.’
As a devoted admirer, I can hardly contain my excitement upon learning about Forte’s recent disclosure. This bombshell news unfolds shortly after the esteemed actor’s kin finally spoke up, following his prolonged, decade-long struggle against throat cancer.
According to what they shared with People, Mercedes and Jack thanked everyone who was remembering their exceptional father in such a special way.
His children, from his relationship with Joanne Whalley, expressed their great pride and appreciation for the recognition of their father’s legacy. At present, they prefer to mourn their loss in a private setting.
According to the New York Times, it was confirmed on Tuesday that Mercedes’ father had tragically died due to pneumonia in Los Angeles.
Back in 2014, I, a dedicated follower, received the unfortunate news that my beloved Hollywood veteran had been diagnosed with throat cancer. After bravely facing the challenge, he underwent surgery, which included a tracheotomy, significantly altering his capacity to speak. Yet, hope prevailed as he was eventually declared cancer-free.

One of Kilmer’s most recognizable roles was Iceman in the 1986 hit movie Top Gun.
Regardless of his permanently impaired vocal cords, he briefly reappeared on-screen in the 2022 film Top Gun: Maverick, resuming his character alongside Tom Cruise. This marked his final major role in a movie production.
The Los Angeles native also famously played musician Jim Morrison in the 1991 film The Doors.
He went on to star as Batman/Bruce Wayne in the 1995 film Batman Forever.
Due to a permanent injury from his tracheostomy, Val’s vocal cords were significantly changed, resulting in an altered speaking voice that remained so throughout his lifetime.
He reported in 2020 that he had been cancer-free for four years.
