V&A is just not ready for Freddie as it turns down Queen frontman’s fashion collection

Queen frontman Freddie Mercury was always ready to make an exhibition of himself.

But making an exhibition of his fabulous wardrobe is proving a far more torturous endeavour.

Freddie Mercury’s former assistant, Peter Freestone, has shared that he proposed donating over 1,000 of Freddie’s personal belongings to the Victoria & Albert Museum in London for an exhibition.

Instead of immediately accepting his proposal, the museum curators informed him that they weren’t able to host an exhibition until at least 2030.

As someone who lived with Freddie Mercury for eleven years at Garden Lodge – we were practically around the corner from the V&A Museum – we did explore the possibility of showcasing some of his belongings there. They were definitely intrigued, but the timeline just didn’t align. They suggested 2030, which felt a little too far off for us at the time.

The collection features iconic items like Freddie Mercury’s military jackets, his Adidas sneakers, the jacket from the ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ music video, and the outfit he famously wore in the ‘I Want To Break Free’ video.

Honestly, it’s infuriating! The V&A moves at a snail’s pace when it comes to Freddie, but with David Bowie – Freddie’s incredible friend and collaborator – they jumped on it immediately! They went from just thinking about a Bowie exhibit to a full-blown retrospective in just over two years. Two years! Where’s that same energy for our Freddie?! It just doesn’t seem fair, you know?

That exhibition opened in 2013 and was eventually seen by more than two million fans.

Freddie’s collection will debut in an immersive exhibit called The World of Freddie in Budapest, Hungary next year. Discussions are still happening with the V&A museum about a future showing.

Because, as every Queen fan knows, the show must go on!

Waltzing West

I’ve been following Dominic West’s career, and it’s fascinating! After sharing the stage with Carly Bawden in My Fair Lady, I hear he’s now considering Strictly Come Dancing. It sounds like he’s really embracing a variety of performance opportunities, and I, for one, am excited to see what he does next!

He shared with me at the St James’s carol concert – an event organized by Ben Elliot, the Queen’s nephew – that he’d always dreamed of being part of the show.

Although West, 56, concedes that he may be ‘a bit long in the tooth’ to take part now.

‘They never asked me and now I can’t get out of bed. It’s quite difficult.’

Phoenix Brown, whose mother is Spice Girl Mel B, acknowledges she benefits from her mother’s fame and connections – a phenomenon often called being a ‘nepo baby’ – and is actively pursuing opportunities because of it.

She recently DJed alongside Mel C from the Spice Girls at a Superdry event, and she’s now collaborating with another member of the group.

At the Beauty Awards, she mentioned she’s excited about Cruz Beckham, Posh Spice’s son, and would be thrilled to collaborate with him as his music career grows.

Maybe it just needs a two-become-one collaboration!

Cora’s fallen for a Burberry punk

Vivienne Westwood’s granddaughter, Cora Corre, is reportedly dating a West London rapper known as Slew.

Slew, who used to model for Burberry, creates music that mixes rap, grime, and drill, often focusing on themes of government corruption.

This new rapper seems to have a rebellious side. I think Vivienne Westwood, the famous designer known for her punk style, would have liked him.

Cora has previously dated that nice young pop star Harry Styles.

Musician Nick Cave, known for his rock music and past struggles with addiction, is scheduled to perform at St Bartholomew The Great, a church in London near where Michael Gove lives, sometime before Christmas.

But there’s a catch: tickets are £450 each!

Miley and a Lost night

Following a fire at the popular Chiltern Firehouse restaurant in London, celebrities who frequented the spot are now gathering at a new club named Lost.

Singers Miley Cyrus, 33 and Lily Allen have been spotted at the Leicester Square nightclub.

And I hear that Lily, 40, is hosting an ‘intimate private party’ there imminently.

Celebrities are embracing a new policy inspired by the TV show ‘Lost,’ where guests are asked to cover their phone cameras with stickers to prevent photos.

No paps, please!
