I was so excited to see such a talented cast! It included Brett Climo, Craig Hall, David Berry, Abby Earl, Arianwen Parkes-Lockwood, Aldo Mignone, Sara Wiseman, Jenni Baird, Tim Draxl, and Frankie J. Holden – seriously, a fantastic group of actors.

The show was first cancelled after just two seasons. However, it received additional funding, allowing it to continue for a total of six seasons, concluding in 2018.

The television series A Place to Call Home was popular with both viewers and critics, earning multiple award nominations and winning a Logie Award and an Australian Cinematographers Society Award during its time on air.

I’m absolutely blown away – this show has a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes! And honestly, a lot of other fans feel the same way – they’re saying it’s one of the best TV series ever made. It really lives up to the hype!

According to a review in The Guardian, this show isn’t a typical, simple drama like Packed to the Rafters. Instead, it’s a high-quality historical drama with impressive production values.

According to The Wall Street Journal, A Place to Call Home lives up to its name, offering a beautifully shot and intelligent romantic drama with consistently excellent performances from the entire cast, despite its serious themes.

The San Francisco Chronicle called it captivating, and The Australian praised its humor and elegance.

The Silver Petticoat Review described A Place to Call Home as “addicting,” praising its ability to immerse viewers in a compelling world of characters, drama, and secrets. They noted that by the series’ end, you’ll feel deeply connected to the characters and wish you could continue following their stories.

In a 2016 interview with Parade, actress Dusseldorp shared why she was attracted to the character of Sarah. She explained that as the world becomes more connected, stories become a way for cultures to connect and learn from each other.

What really attracted her to me was a remarkable experience she’d gone through. I knew the director, who had passed away, and he’d told me she had a complicated history.

I felt a huge weight trying to accurately portray her life on screen, and I didn’t take that lightly. This meant showing the whole story, including her journey to Judaism and her survival of a Nazi concentration camp.

All six seasons of A Place to Call Home are available to stream now on Prime Video
