Usher begins Past Present Future Tour in Washington D.C. after postponement due to neck injury

As an ardent fan of the legendary Usher Raymond IV, I can confidently say that his comeback after the unfortunate neck injury has been nothing short of spectacular! The man is a true testament to resilience and determination, proving time and again that he’s not just about the hits, but also about the journey.

Kicking off my latest tour, “Past Present Future,” this past week, I performed two electrifying shows at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday and Wednesday, both of which were completely sold out!

Originally scheduled to perform in Atlanta on August 14, the eight-time Grammy award recipient, aged 45, unfortunately had to cancel a set of three performances due to an injury he sustained while rehearsing for the shows, affecting his neck.

“Usher Raymond IV, originally from Dallas, expressed his optimism on social media on August 15th, stating that he hoped to conquer his injury through physical therapy and medical care, making himself ready for the opening night.”

At that point, the lead vocalist stated that his neck injury hadn’t fully recovered yet and medical professionals advised him against participating in any concerts.

Usher will make up the shows at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena on December 9, 10 and 12.

According to People, the performance by Usher in Washington D.C. lasted an additional two hours and featured songs like “Lovers and Friends,” “Confessions,” “Yeah!”, and “U Don’t Have To Call.”

The lead singer of Burn sang songs from his latest album titled “Coming Home”, which dropped back in February, according to reports.

On a Wednesday, musicians from Washington, D.C., including Wale, Raheem DeVaughn, and Sugar Bear of EU, joined Usher on his journey, as reported by a magazine.

In collaboration, Usher worked together with Wale on the songs “No Hands” and “The Matrimony”. Meanwhile, he sang a track named “You” with DeVaughn, and teamed up with Sugar Bear to produce “Da’ Butt”.

In a review penned by Shaheem Reid from Variety, it was noted that the artist skillfully displayed the diverse stages of their career through the use of an intricate structure made up of numerous large LED screens. This structure could project one large image or video, or multiple smaller ones simultaneously on different screens.

The article mentions that the cube served as a grand stage prop as well. It had a penthouse and a space that was sometimes reminiscent of a residential room, a nightclub, or a dance venue.

According to Reid, Usher didn’t appear to have a neck injury, instead, he looked exceptionally fit as he navigated the challenging, energetic performance.

Usher has concerts slated for Friday and Saturday at the CFG Bank Arena in Baltimore.

I’m scheduled to perform shows across various North American cities such as Boston, Philadelphia, Toronto, New York City, Detroit, Denver, and Los Angeles (and many more) until the end of this year. My performances in Atlanta will conclude this initial tour segment.

As your trusted lifestyle guide, I’m excited to share that I kick off the European leg of my tour in London at The O2 Arena on March 29. Over the course of eight nights, you can find me gracing this iconic stage. Following my stay in London, I’ll be moving on to cities like Paris, Amsterdam, and Berlin before wrapping up back in London next May to bring this tour to a close.

The singer revealed he would be hitting the road late last year after wrapping up on My Way: The Las Vegas Residency.

2022 has been a bustling year for the resilient R&B legend, who was the main performer during the Super Bowl LVIII halftime show. This event took place in Las Vegas, where he shared the stage with artists such as Alicia Keys, will.i.am, Lil Jon, Jermaine Dupri, Ludacris, and H.E.R.

Next month, I’m excited to share that a global release of the concert film titled “USHER: RENDEZVOUS IN PARIS” is scheduled. This spectacular event will be screened in approximately 2,000 theaters worldwide, from September 12th through the 15th.
