US star raises eyebrows as he makes shock joke about popular Aussie city and drug use

On Monday evening, Jeremy Piven shone as the leading figure at the Sydney premiere for his newest film titled Primitive War.

The well-known figure from Hollywood, aged 60, has been in Australia for several months, filming a local production and performing his stand-up comedy shows throughout the country.

Although enthusiastically discussing his Australian experience, including naming his favorite location, the comedian from America proposed an intriguing idea for a name change for a specific city.

During the course of my travel, our destination shifted towards Perth, a city known for its high drug activity within Australia, an interesting fact Jeremy humorously shared during an exclusive interview with Daily Mail.

In a humorous jab at the U.S. President, the legendary actor playfully suggested renaming Perth to “Merth,” mimicking Donald Trump’s style.

Cracking up with laughter, he shook his head, signalling his comment was simply tongue in cheek.

As an utterly smitten admirer, let me share with you a few of the breathtaking experiences I’ve encountered during my travels across the vast and wondrous land down under – Australia! And oh, my heart skips a beat every time I reminisce about my beloved hideaway in Perth, the city that stole mine. Merth, you say? No, dear friend, it’s Perth – a place I hold close to my heart.

In truth, I visited a cigar lounge known as The Social Club, and it stands among the top cigar bars I’ve ever experienced throughout my life.

He shared that every place he visited, such as the Enmore Theatre in Sydney and Hamer Hall in Melbourne, were among the most memorable experiences of his life.

‘Sold out houses… It was just incredible. I loved it.’

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’d be thrilled to share that on Monday evening, I found myself strolling out on the vibrant red carpet in Sydney, accompanied by my esteemed cohorts, in preparation for the anticipated premiere of our upcoming film, “Primitive War.

Drawing inspiration from Ethan Pettus’ popular novel, this science fiction thriller unfolds against the backdrop of the Vietnam War in 1968.

The narrative follows a search-and-rescue unit as they venture deep into the dense jungle on a mission to locate a lost platoon. However, what they stumble upon is far from ordinary – they encounter terrifying dinosaurs and unravel an undercover operation that could potentially bring about an apocalypse.

Under the skillful direction of Australian filmmaker Luke Sparke, the movie came alive with impressive visual effects and an illustrious ensemble cast. Jeremy couldn’t help but express his admiration for Sparke’s work.

He had grand ambitions! He created a captivating indie sci-fi fantasy film, one that appears as if it cost $80 million to produce, all from his own backyard.

He added: ‘No one’s doing that, so we need to celebrate this guy.’

The action-packed movie was filmed entirely in Australia, with most scenes being captured on the Gold Coast – a location that Jeremy found hard to part from.

He described the popular East Coast as having vast, verdant shores, a remarkable ambiance, and folks who seem to be truly enjoying themselves at their finest.

Jeremy rose to fame as the foul-mouthed agent in satirical Hollywood dramedy Entourage.

From 2004 to 2011, the actor portrayed the sharp-tongued character Ari Gold in the HBO television show, and he also featured in a film released in 2015.

Primitive War opens in Australian cinemas on August 21.
