Urban Sophistication’s NYC Pop-Up Pays Homage to Its Big Apple Origins

Summary

  • Open until June 23, lifestyle label Urban Sophistication has set up a playful art installation and pop-up shop in SOHO to honor its NYC origin story.

As a devotee, I’m thrilled to share that Urban Sophistication, renowned for its clever fusion of design and cultural wit, has graced the bustling streets of New York City! This milestone marks their ten-year journey, and they’ve chosen to commemorate it by unveiling a vibrant pop-up experience called “huNgrY.

Neta and Elad Yam, who launched Urban Sophistication in 2015, expressed that “huNgrY symbolizes the initial flame – the hunger that molded us. A salute to the city that sparked Urban Sophistication, where our first creation was situated on W 33rd Street and 11th Avenue, surrounded by scaffolding and steel. It’s a narrative of growth – etched in grit, mistakes, advancements, and relentless development.

Created by co-founder Elad Yam, the “huNgrY” pop-up serves as an intriguing study of contrasts, featuring a large pizza oven surrounded by the brand’s red tote bags and a miniature steel house showcasing its playful phone cases. This interactive setting offers a glimpse into the label’s latest collection, “Feeels Nostalgic,” as well as exclusive items available exclusively at this pop-up. Notable pieces from the collection include a 2015 Urban Sophistication hoodie with ear details, striking striped knitwear, and metallic versions of its spacious handbags.

A decade back, my gaming buddy and I journeyed to the bustling city of New York with a dream: to narrate the tale of Urban Sophistication. We drafted our logo, two simple stick figures, representing us, yearning to craft something that resonated with everyone. That humble emblem evolved into a reflection of us all.

As a passionate admirer, I’d like to share that the gallery above offers a more detailed view of the captivating installation and snaps from its grand opening. From now until June 23, between the hours of 11 am and 7 pm, you have the opportunity to personally experience this SoHo art exhibit and pop-up located at 152 Wooster Street.
